Expensive to use? Bitter taste after usage? Not Recommended by OEM's? Use lemon juice? Maybe it's just me, but I really don't get it!
Unless you're using your machine commercially to make hundreds of shots per week, you're wasting your money, not to mention killing your machine by decalcifying constantly. I have nearly 6,000 shots (!) on my one year-old Saeco Incanto Sirius machine and I just finished my FIRST 3-package Cleancaf box. In all this time, the machine has only prompted me to decalcify ONCE. It bases this on a water pH test you perform at the time of new machine commissioning and the coresponding water hardness setting of the machine resulting from the set-up test. I ignore the prompt and just decalc every THREE months or so (i.e, like the package instructions recommend, LOL!) I've never noticed a decrease in water flow (during coffee or steam/hot water wand usage), nor has there been any decrease in coffee temperature. FWIW, I fill the machine reservoir (I have spare reservoir that I use for decalcifying only) all the way up with warm water and one packet of Cleancaf...it has a two-litre capacity. Then I rinse with TWO reservoirs full of clean warm water. It DOES take a while....the machine is next to the sink, so I aim the wand at the drain, let the thing go and walk away to do other things. I NEVER have an issue with taste after cleaning and I am anal about coffee taste, freshness and machine cleanliness. FWIW, the machine uses the Aqua Prima in-reservoir micropore and charcoal filter, and I use supermarket-brand spring water (loaded with mineral and micro-organisms, LOL) in the one-gallon jug (lots of them, with the amt. of espresso I brew, LOL!).
For those of you thinking of using a non-authorized acidic solution (lemon juice, vinegar, etc.) for decalcifying, think again. SAECO USA as well as Whole Latte Love (authorized SAECO sales/service) will tell you to use SAECO Dezcal (it's also made by Urnex)or Urnex Cleancaf ONLY for decalcification. They're non-toxic, bio-degradeable, chelation-process cleaners (Dezcal is weak sulfonic acid, Cleancaf is classified "non-hazardous" per their respective MSDS hazardous sheets). If you use lemon juice or white vinegar you will very likely cause water circuit damage and VOID your warrantee. Don't believe me, call the manufacturer and ask yourself...it's in the owner's manual as well. BTW, most Starbucks Barrista espresso machines are OEM'ed by SAECO in Bologna, Italia.
My machine has been in to the local factory authorized repair center (broken grinder...fixed FOC under the OEM warrantee), and they remarked on how spotless the machine was, inside, outside, in the brew circuit and in the hot water circuit...especially considering the amount of shots I make!
SAECO, WLL and the local warrantee station (The Repair Shack) also recommend Urnex Cafiza (I use the Tablets, you can also buy it in powder form) to keep the COFFEE circuit as spotless as the HOT WATER circuit. You can see it work as it "peels" the layers of stuck-on coffee residue that even constant rinsing on my part (remember, I am anal, LOL!) does not remove and flushes it out. That, my friends, DEFINITELY results in me being able to fully appreciate my Lavazza Super Crema-based espresso, caffe lungo (caffe crema) and capuccino with NO bitterness caused by a dirty machine! If you're going to spend the money on an expensive machine, and use expensive coffee, you might as well get great tasting caffe, right?
My vote: HIGHLY Recommended. Just use it sparingly and enjoy your coffee!

Tobi Steamer Review

(More customer reviews)I got my robi in the mail yesterday and decided to try it out on 3 pairs of dress shirts and slacks. It took me 30 minutes to get 1 of my shirts to the level of acceptable (but not iron quality). I understand that it will never be iron quality, but this product is a hazard.
*The stand is clumsy and un-balanced
*The steamer does not work on creased wrinkles
*The hose has to be completely uncoiled for the steam to come out
*The unit leaks if you open the water release valve for full steam
*The unit might-as-well not even have wheels on it, cause they don't help - I ended up just using the shoulder strap.
This product is a piece of you know what. I wouldn't have it any where near children or pets. I am sending it back today, but I do get to keep the travel steamer, which is good to have regardless of how fast it works. I hope Dyson finds a reason to engineer one of these.

Jiffy Steamer liquid cleaner. Review

(More customer reviews)I have the Jiffy Travel Steamer, the Esteam machine. I had quite a bit of buildup on the bottom of the steamer. I tried vinegar/water over night. It loosened up some of it, but not much at all. I then bought some of this stuff. I checked after one hour and shook the steamer around with the solution inside to see if any of the calcium has come loose, but nothing. I then looked again after 2 hours. I finally started to see the calcium floating in the solution. They recommend emptying it after 2 hours, but I let it sit over night. If I emptied it after 2 hours, I would still have a lot of calcium buildup on the bottom. So leaving it sit overnight is a good idea. I uploaded before and after pictures of the steamer so you can see my results. I would have given it 5 stars, but it didn't get rid of it all, but about 90% of it which is fine with me. I think I will use distilled water in the future so as not to get this calcium buildup any more, at least when I use it at home. Buying a gallon of distilled water every now and then will be quite a bit cheaper than buying this solution every few months. Besides, I mostly use it at home anyway and When I do travel, I will just use tap water and try and dry it best I can afterwards. So if you have the buildup, I can honestly say that it does work!

Bissell 79011 Proheat Upright Deep Cleaner Review

(More customer reviews)I recently bought a Proheat machine to clean my (I'm ashamed to say)filthy carpets. I liked the fact that it heats the water, has a powerful brush, and can apply Scotchagrd. When it arrived at my door I couldn't wait to get it out of the box and give it a try. I did take the time to read the manual based on advice from some other reviewers, but I was busy cleaning my carpet in no time. The water was so dirty- I had to save it to show my husband. Neither of us could believe how clean our carpets looked, almost brand new. I don't usually take the time to write reviews, but this cleaner is so amazing that I wanted to share my experience with everyone. Anyone with carpet in their home needs one of these. It's worth every penny.

(More customer reviews)researched for weeks online and in stores for a steam mop, as most of my house is wood or tile. I could not be happier with my purchase. Here are the reasons why i finally chose the Euroflex Monster:
1) It was actually designed to be used on hardwood floors - this was important to me b/c I didn't want to ruin the floors in our house
2) It has 2 different steam levels, which makes it safer and more effective at cleaning tile and hardwood. i could not find any other steam mop w/ 2 different steam levels.
3) it has a good sized water chamber. i can mop the whole house on one filling if i don't press the trigger too much to get extra steam to come out the front.
4) steam jets on the bottom AND front. i don't remember seeing this in any other brand.
5) it heats up hotter than most steam mops - to 240 degrees F. Other steam mops don't get as hot so to actually sanitize you are supposed to hold the mop in one spot for 15 seconds, which would make mopping a house an all day event.
6) it also has an attachment for steam cleaning carpets - i have not tried this yet, but liked the feature.
7) the bonus pads where a great bonus.
It has been great at cleaning well and quickly. It really does wipe away grime... even grime that's been there for a while. The pads are machine washable and come out clean every time. Be sure to use distilled water so that you don't get any build up in the chamber (that goes for all steam mops). My only complaint is that if you do have to refill the water chamber mid-cleaning session, you have to wait to 5 mins unscrew the cap (b/c of steam escaping when you unscrew the cap)and then another 5 mins for the mop to heat up after you put more water in the chamber.

Bissell ProHeat Upright Deep Cleaner, 25A3 Review

(More customer reviews)I upgraded from an older Bissell Little Green Machine to this unit based primarily on my experience with Bissell products. The PROheat has a number of nice features that ultimately sold me on it and after using it for a few months now I'm fairly pleased with it. I particularly like that you can choose to either have the heat on or off. I've heard some people say that using the heat can break down your carpets more quickly and cause the stain to get worse as it picks up new dirt that is tracked in. I don't know if that's not the case, but since my old Bissell unit lacked heat but did a fine job, I pretty much use this minus the heat. Even with the heat off I'm stunned at how good a job this unit does. It's even cleaned stains that I gave up as a lost cause. Most astonishingly, I usually vacuum first before using the steamer and then vacuum again once it's dry. I've discovered I actually vacuum up MORE dirt after steam cleaning than I did before. Clearly this machine is knocking loose built up dirt which means cleaner and nicer appearing carpets than ever before. I also liked the wand attachment from my old Little Green machine, especially for upholstered pieces and hard to reach spots and this thankfully has that.
But there are some drawbacks and limitations. At least initially you will pick up a LOT of carpet fibers when you use the machine, which means FREQUENT cleaning of the rotating brushes and especially the multiple filters on the unit. In some instances I wound up using tweezers to get out fibers from the particularly small filter on the underside of the water tank. The one on top is easier to clean out, but particles trap almost everywhere on this machine. The water tank holds a pitifully small amount of water and/or cleaning solution which means frequent refills, and it slows down the whole cleaning process. The self contained tank is easy to empty, but if you think that will eliminate odors from dirty water guess again, it doesn't. The tank does seem to leak or the seals don't hold tight and so dirty water does collect in the well that the tank sits in, which ads to the nasty smells as well as adding yet another think you have to clean up. Another particularly annoying habit is the dirty water seeping out the front of the machine by the cleaning rollers when you turn off and store the machine. This is really disgusting and trust me, don't store it on carpet or even leave it sitting there for very long as it WILL leak! When in use loose fibers tend to gather on the underside of the machine around the brush rollers so you manually have to gather it up by hand, which slows down the cleaning process. Once you've cleaned your carpet a few times that problem (hopefully) should minimize, although it has yet to happen for me. As a result there's a considerable amount of maintenance you have to do to ensure your machine is operating under optimum conditions. Even so, it's hard to argue with the results. I would probably buy this same unit again, but would also read up on other models just in case they operate more easily. Perhaps I was used to the utter simplicity of the Little Green Machine and sometimes I wish I was still using it, sad to say.

(More customer reviews)I hate to burst everyone's bubble. I've used this product with my Spotbot, because it came with it. I've used it in my Hoover Steamvac. I've used both the Spotbot and Steamvac without it. I have two kids and a dog that pees everywhere and I see no difference.
Spotbot is an excellent spot cleaner and it works perfectly well without OxyGen. I get all sorts of spots out with it and no need for OxyGen. Perhaps that's why everyone is getting such marvelous results. It's the Spotbot with regular detergent, not the OxyGen.
One big drawback to using OxyGen is the Spotbot manual instructs us to discard the unused solution if it contains OxyGen, meaning I can't leave it in my Spotbot. I don't have to do that with plain regular detergent. Since I must mix the OxyGen with water and detergent, I have to discard the detergent and OxyGen, which feels like a waste.
Personally, I don't think this product does any harm. It just doesn't do much good. Spend the extra money elsewhere.

I was very concerned that the amount of steam would not be sufficient for my needs, and even though it does not give the amount of steam that my old boiler did, it works pretty good. I like the fact that it is 110V instead of 220V. It really is a nifty little gadget, and so far has met my needs. I do worry a bit about whether it will last. I will update this if I have any problems, but for now I give it a four star rating and would recommend it to people who need a small to medium volume of high pressure dry steam.

Then ... one of the cats started urinating in the front room ... and the smell was awful! I tried at least 6 or 7 cleaners/remedies and nothing worked. The smell always came back.
That is ... until I used OdoBan! One application and the smell is gone - never to have returned. I am impressed beyond words!!

Hoover H3030 FloorMate SpinScrub 500 Floor Cleaner Review

(More customer reviews)Nothing is going to get your floor as clean as good ol' handwashing on your hands and knees. But who is willing to do that anymore? This machine is a reasonable tradeoff between convenience and efficiency.
It really will scrub sealed floors clean. Don't expect to save much time over traditional mopping, though. You must slooooowly push and pull it several times over a spot to really get it clean. Stubborn or ground in stains may require a second or third wash. And it's impossible to fully clean edges or corners.

A couple items are worth mentioning. First, the dry vac mode is extremely weak. I could not get it to suck up a simple peppercorn or corn flake! Pre-sweeping with a broom or other bare floor vac is a must.
Secondly, Hoover recommends only using their special floor cleaner with the machine, which I find annoying, expensive and hard to find. I emailed them about this, and they said I could also use vinegar and water, which is too mild in my opinion. I felt daring and have used other floor cleaners in the machine without any problem. However, I would avoid using pine, orange, bleach, or ammonia based cleaners -- as the instructions specifically mention not to use "solvent" based cleansers.
So overall, a solid product. Just be realistic in your expectations of what it can do.

(More customer reviews)I don't know why this stuff doesn't have a clear monopoly on the carpet cleaning market. I grew up with the white fizzy stuff, and my wife and I have had some stains (from detergent, of all things) that we could NOT get out for the life of us. We were at Target looking at cleaning solutions discussing which one to buy when the lady next to us recommended Folex. We got it hoping for it to work a little better. I tried it when we got home and was honestly amazed as the stains disappeared before my eyes. I figured it had to have some terrible chemical in it, but all the ingredients were natural and the product is safer than the other carpet cleaners. Seriously, get this stuff, you won;t ever get anything else.

Jiffy Garment Steamer J-2000 Review

(More customer reviews)I recently took a wool sweater vest out of the drawer where it had spent the summer. It was crumpled, creased, unwearable, un-ironable. Ah... but it was no problem at all for my new jiffy steamer. In two minutes or so, it was smooth and perfect. I love steaming tee-shirts -- ironing them is annoying and always sets in some strange lines and fine creases. Heavy cotton trousers, wool clothing, sythetics ... all the odd items that never iron quite right are no obstacle at all for my steamer.
I have found it best to put the wand inside the clothing and pull it towards me while steaming. Thinner tee-shirts I can iron from behind and the steam passes through both layers -- cuts my work in half. I have also rested my ironing board against the wall to use as a sort of steamer board but as I'm getting better at using my steamer, I find I don't need to bother with that.
I really like my steamer -- it's quick, easy, efficient, heats up fast, melts away wrinkles. Well-made and sturdy too. Impressive for the price. I recommend it.

Hoover F7222900 SteamVac Dual V Carpet Cleaner Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased this machine one year ago. I love how it cleans and it is easy to use. I have 2 dogs and a cat and it is great whhen the dog has an accident on my beige rugs. the only problem whhich I will address with Hoover is that after a few uses one of the latches on the recovery tank broke in half. My husband was able to repair that with Crazy glue. this forces me to be extra careful when closing that particular latch. This model I have has the clean water and detergent tank attached to one another. It states the detergent tank is NOT to be detached or removed form its postion. I used it this past week and the detergent solution holder fell off. Now I have "jimmy-rigged" the solution on onto the clean water tank with heavy tape. It works, but the problem is that a piece of plastic broke off the bottom and it has not sit correctly onto the machine to dispense the detergent in the way it is supposed to. Other than these two problems I love the machine. I know i could purchase a replacement tank but I feel the machine is too knew for this to happen
