Oreck Steam-On? Steam Mop Review

Oreck Steam-On Steam Mop
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought a Steam-on before Christmas 2010. It worked great for about 6 weeks, when it lost a screw underneath where the steam comes out, causing the inside parts to become loose and shaky. Oreck was great and swapped it out for another. I've had the replacement for about 8 weeks and the handle broke and will not stay together, making it nearly impossible to mop.
What's funny is my mom bought one at the same time. Her handle broke around the time I had the first one replaced, so she had her's replaced as well. A few days ago, the screw came out of the steamer as mine did. Apparently, these steam mops are very cheaply made and have a lifespan of 6-8 weeks. I plan to return mine to the Oreck store tomorrow for a refund.

Sienna ssm-0418 Vortex Steam Mop Review

Sienna ssm-0418 Vortex Steam Mop
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was skeptical about buying a steam mop after reading reviews of many other steamers, but I took the plunge with this one and I'm so glad I did! Assembly was two screws in the handle which is made of sturdy metal. Steamer heats up fast, and moves smoothly once the microfiber pad gets damp ( two or three swipes and it glides great). The pads pick up an amazing amount of dirt and the steam is very hot. Buy extra pads, you'll need them. Pads slip on and off with an easy drawstring. Just throw them in the wash and they're ready to go the next time. No pumping required as with some other steamers. You do have to hold the trigger to make it steam, but it's so easy I don't even think about it. There are 5 steam ports, so good coverage. It also fits below my cabinets so I don't have to do those areas by hand. I have two large rooms with linoleum flooring and I can do them both on one tank of water. I've had no problem with the tank leaking even when I lay it down to change the pads. The cord is a little short so I have to plug it in twice. Still beats emptying a dirty bucket from a regular mop any day. If you're trying to decide which steamer to buy, this is the one to get. It's reasonably priced and does a terrific job. Oh yes, it's also incredibly quiet. Buy this one!

I have been using these for several months now and find them very easy to use, with no question that you are using the right amount of product or making a mess trying to pour the concentrate into the awkwardly shaped measuring cup. I think they get the job done well! My carpets always look clean after I use them.

FILTER AIR DUAL FOR F150 Review

FILTER AIR DUAL FOR F150
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'm fairly certain that most of the sellers offering this filter on AMAZON are just fine. But a word to the wise: please be careful in buying. I bought a set that was described as "like new." The wording led me to believe that while the packaging was worn, the filters themselves were fine. In fact the email confirmation of shipping described the filters as "mint."
But what I got instead was a filthy health hazard by anyone's definition. The intake sides of the 4 filters were all choked with about 1/4 inch of dirt, dust, animal hair and no telling what other "crud." I decided to take the loss of my $15 rather than have to handle the filters again in order to send them back. Ugh! I posted some photos of what I received from the AMAZON seller. See for yourself. Yuck!
And be careful!

Euro-Pro Shark S3501 Steam Pocket Mop with 3 Quick Release Mop Heads and 4 Pads Review

Euro-Pro Shark S3501 Steam Pocket Mop with 3 Quick Release Mop Heads and 4 Pads
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
A couple of weeks ago, I hesitantly purchased (directly from Amazon) the Euro-Pro Shark Steam Pocket Mop ... but I am SO glad I did. I LOVE this steam mop. I have TILE and WOOD floors throughout my house and they have been nearly impossible to keep clean (as evidenced by my kids' no-so-white sock bottoms). Anyway, I had been researching all of the various steam mops trying to find that "perfect" mop that would work miracles. I thought I had decided on one, but then (while flipping channels) saw the infomercial for this mop. It appeared to be EXACTLY what I was looking for. As with most infomercials, I was VERY skeptical that the product would REALLY do what it claimed to do. Luckily, I took the leap of faith, and purchased one from Amazon.com. I could not be happier with this mop. It REALLY does STEAM (alot) and get all of the gross built up dirt and grime off the floors.
I HATE cleaning floors! I'm more of a carpet person, so for me to say I love this product is absolutely amazing. I had a Hoover FloorMate (which I purchased 7 years ago), but it was ALOT of effort to clean up AFTER ... and it only had the brush scrubbers (so it didn't really WIPE the floors clean) AND it required the special Hoover cleaner (which I ruined mine by using Pine Sol ... which it specifically says not to use). Then I moved to the cheaper (although, not really after you buy all of the disposable pads and cleaner) Swiffer Wet Jet. It was ok for the quick clean-ups, IF my floor was already pretty much clean to begin with. But the Swiffer Wet Jet never CLEANED my floors. It was EXTREMELY frustrating to spend time and money cleaning and then STILL see the dirty sock bottoms (which meant the floors weren't really clean).
PLEASE NOTE: There are TWO (2) versions of the NEWER MODEL steam mop ... the PURPLE version has 2 heads (rectangle and triangle) with 5 PADS (2 rectangle, 2 triangle, 1 purple duster) and the SILVER/metallic version has 3 heads (XL rectangle, rectangle and triange) and 4 PADS (1 XL rectangle, 1 rectangle, 1 triangle, 1 purple duster). Both have the carpet glider. The XL kit, as well as extra PADS can all be purchased separately. I bought mine at Newegg.
The things I like about the Euro Pro Shark Steam Pocket Mop are ...
1. It has a LONG 30ft. cord so you are not constantly plugging and unplugging,
2. It has sturdy/thick microfiber machine washable/reusable TWO-SIDED pads (all of the stains don't come out, but they have held up VERY well to repeated washings),
3. It has a LARGE water tank, so you are not constantly re-filling the tank,
4. It has a SWIVEL head (3 different HEAD sizes/shapes) that FLIPS for two-sided cleaning,
5. It really STEAMS while cleaning and gets off the built on dirt,
6. It cleans WITHOUT any chemicals ... only tap water (I prefer using hot water),
7. It HEATS up quickly (under a minute ... although I usually let it heat for 5 minutes).
Things you should know ...
1. As with mopping, you need to vacuum or sweep BEFORE steam mopping (do this WHILE the mop is heating up).
2. Filling with hot water worked best for me.
3. PUMP/prime the mop about 10 times before you start mopping (this gets the STEAM really going).
4. Make sure you have AT LEAST 2 pads (4-sides of cleaning), especially if your floors are dirty.
5. Do NOT keep using the same pad side once it is dirty (so, check the bottom as you go) or your floors will not be cleaned and look streaky when they dry.
6. I don't *think* this mop actually gets hot enough to really sanitize (I'm not sure if any of them do), but I spray/squirt some vinegar on the floor as I go and mop over that and it seems to work.
7. The steam mop is made of hard plastic, so I'm not sure how well the handle itself is going to last over time with repeated pumpings, etc. I've noticed several reviewers commenting on a broken handle. I would say there is alot of truth in that ... since the manufacturer sells JUST the HANDLE for ~$30 as a "replacement part" on its website ... and I personally think that is an odd "replacement" part (so they must have ALOT of handles breaking). Still, I have not found anything else that does the job like this mop.
Overall, I am VERY HAPPY with this mop! Actually, don't mind (as much) cleaning the floors now ... since they do truly get clean!
UPDATE April 2011: My mop is still working fine with no issues (thank goodness). The pads are heavily stained (even Clorox won't get the stains out) and have started to wear through and need to be replaced. My mom also purchased one a few months after I did and her handle broke within a month of very LIGHT use. The manufacturer was useless in helping her and said that she could buy the replacement handle (no thank you) or PAY to have it shipped back to them to inspect and fix or replace (their option). Anyway, she just returned it where she purchased it and got all of her money back. I would say that this mop does appear to have QUALITY CONTROL ISSUES. If you get a good one, consider yourself LUCKY. If you get a bad one (which the chances are greater than 50/50), then hopefully you purchased from a store with an EXCELLENT and longer-lasting RETURN POLICY as the manufacturer will NOT help you. It also appears that some of these quality control issues could be dangerous (beyond a broken handle). I am still using mine and happy with the results, but am now a little more cautious.

3M Soil Retarding Carpet Shampoo Concentrate Review

3M Soil Retarding Carpet Shampoo Concentrate
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is the best carpet cleaning shampoo out there, it also is the most expensive. It is requires less soap per gallon though but I have not used anything better than it. It has been on the market for 20 years and it is still the best carpet shampoo solution out there. I love this stuff, I just wish it was cheaper as it has a strong clean smell as that is what you want. Listen there are a lot of good bonnet cleaning solutions but this is the best. I have searched online to find a cheaper deal but there isn't a lower price anywhere.Gallon Carpet Shampoo Concentrate (MCO08205) Category: Carpet Cleaning Machine Chemicals [...]

New Dirt Devil Steam Mop Dirt Devil Steam Generating Hard Floor Cleaner Excellent Performance Review

New Dirt Devil Steam Mop Dirt Devil Steam Generating Hard Floor Cleaner Excellent Performance

Works well on tile floors, but forget cleaning on wood. I used distilled water but steam left white marks all over the floor. I had to re clean my wood floors to get the water marks out. Have not had any problems as far as it not working like many other people have, but was not impressed with the cleaning on my wood floors. If you have tile floors it works well.

Shark XL Floor Kit for the Steam Pocket Mop, SXL3501 Review

Shark XL Floor Kit for the Steam Pocket Mop, SXL3501
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased the Euro-Pro Shark XL3501 Floor Kit from NewEgg to use with the Steam Pocket Mop. I thought with the EXTRA LARGE mop head that I would be able to clean MORE space FASTER, but after using it a few times I'm not convinced. To me, the XL mop HEAD seemed just a little too big for the mop. (It is about 1.5x bigger than the standard/regular size rectangle mop that comes with the mop.) The mop was more difficult to push and manuever with the XL head (which is why I probably didn't clean any faster). In addition, the actual cleaning surface of the mop bottom seemed to be primarily in the very center of the XL mop head (as evidenced by the dirt pattern on the bottom of the pad). This is a "nice to have" accessory, but not a necessary one. I personally prefer the standard/regular size rectangle mop head since it moves easier across the floor (which is why I subtracted 1 star from the XL mop head's rating). A better investment would probably be additional pads for the regular rectangle mop head.

Designed for use with the Shark Steam Pocket Mop (sold separately), this handy accessory kit includes an extra-large mop-head replacement and two microfiber cleaning pads. The mop head provides 25-percent more surface-area cleaning capacity than the Steam Pocket Mop's all-purpose head, while its swiveling design quickly and efficiently maneuvers around furniture and other tight spots. The kit's two pocket-style microfiber cleaning pads offer superior absorbency and triple-action power to loosen, lift, and absorb dust and dirt from floors. Equipped with finger loops for easy application and removal, the pads also feature soft fibers that won't scratch or damage flooring, as well as an innovative two-sided design to facilitate both dusting and deep cleaning. Best of all, the pads can be thrown in the washing machine for cleaning between use. Ideal for large-size floors, the accessory kit measures 7 by 16-8/9 by 2 inches.

CHI HOME 2 in 1 Steam Vac Microfiber Pads, Pack of 3, White Review

CHI HOME 2 in 1 Steam Vac Microfiber Pads, Pack of 3, White
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have used Chi straightening irons for years ... but only recently bought the steamer vacuum. It lives up to Chi's stellar reputation--the pet hair is gone from my floors and the they are nice, shiny and clean. I feel much better about walking barefoot in my own home! For the record, I have polished concrete floors ... so I needed something that could both mop & vacuum in one go. These refills are excellent and I suggest buying a box in addition to the two pads that come with the vacuum. That will give you 6 pads and ensure that just because you haven't had a chance to launder the ones you've already used, you still have some available to clean your floor. Amazon is the only place I've found these.
