I had a conair before I got this one. It finally gave in after 3 years. And I needed a new one.
This one is cheap and does what I need it too.
It starts steaming very quickly and gets the basic wrinkles out of my clothes for work.
It is not an iron and does not make anything look amazing crisp. But I never thought it would.
I just want to be able to take a shirt off of my floor that might not look too good and steam it out so it is wearable. That is exactly what this steamer does.
I love it and I can not live without one.

I will continue to try and use different approaches to see if this will change. So on charcoal you may have problems. But for gas it is great.

(More customer reviews)Usually I won't buy a product on Amazon without seeing at least one customer review...but at $100 I thought I'd take a chance. I wanted a lightweight vacuum with good power, one that was bagless, able to pick up animal hair, and wouldn't cost me a fortune long-term with replacement filters. So far, this vacuum fits all those criteria.
PROS
- Easy to put together. It took me about 4 minutes once the pieces are out of the box. A Philips screwdriver is required to secure the handle. There's nothing complicated here.
- Long cord. Plus, there's a little cord clip up near the handle to secure the cord.
- Power. I was surprised to see how quickly this cleaned up and how much it got out of my carpet, even after my Roomba had taken a turn just before. Very good at getting fine cat hair out of a medium-pile carpet.
- Lightweight. You sacrifice a motor (i.e. it's not self-propelled), but the darn thing is so light it hardly matters. I had no trouble pushing this thing around; in fact, I found it easier to push without the motor than my bigger, heavier Bissell bagless vacuum (which weight about 10 pounds more but was self-propelled). It weighs about 15 pounds. Plus, the top of the canister serves as an additional handle for the entire vacuum, so you can pick it up in two different places.
- Easy to empty. The bottom of the canister is hinged. Push the button to unlock the canister from the vacuum, bring the canister to your garbage, and push the latch (easy to do) on the front of the canister. The darn thing just empties right out. (Just be sure you've got it over the garbage when you do!)
- Filters. The packaging says you never need to replace the HEPA filter (located at the top of the canister), and the canister's cone filter is apparently rinsable. I haven't had to deal with either yet.
CONS
One star off because of the little noises associated with operation. First, there was this weird chirping sound for about 5 minutes after using it the first time. It did, however, go away - looks like it was literally a squeaky wheel. And second, once you get something of weight in the canister, like a tiny piece of gravel, it whirls around and around and around...and you hear it whirl around and around...it's pretty loud. But overall, neither of these would keep me from purchasing again.

(More customer reviews)I actually bought this at a Sear's outlet store for the same price listed here and I'm very happy with the results. I have hardwood floors, two dogs, and I live in the Pacific Northwest which means lots of mud and dirty paw prints during the rainy season (7 months out of 12). I was using a hand held mop with a reusable cloth pad and spraying cleaner by hand which was time consuming and hard on the wrist. I had been interested in getting a steam mop ever since I saw the infomercials for the Shark Steam mop but I didn't want to pay $150 for one. I did some research here on Amazon and found some that I liked but they were still out of my price range. When my husband noticed one at the Sears Outlet for $39.99 I decided to get it. I like the fact that it comes with 3 microfiber pads, 2 for hardwood/linoleum/tile floors and 1 for the carpet attachment. It heats up very quickly and really gets all of the dirt out of my floors, all without having to use chemicals. I do have some of the cleaning fluid included in the box and have not used it yet, it doesn't need to be added except for really sticky messes I think. I clean the pads in the sink with hot water and soap and just let them dry afterwards and that seems to work very well. All in all I would recommend this product for its price and its performance, its a great investment. One thing that I did have a problem with was using the feature for the front steam jets. Using the troubleshooting instructions in the manual, I found out that I had inserted the handle wrong and the electrical connection was not touching properly to make the jets work.

(More customer reviews)I'll make it simple: If you are looking for a home-edition garment steamer, your top 2 choices in the marketplace will likely be the Jiffy 2000 and the Rowenta 8100.
I tested both for 10 hours; on a 1 to 10 scale:
Jiffy (Looks = 6; Engineering = 10; Handling = 9; Craftsmanship = 10).
It looks like a mop bucket on wheels but it performs like a jet engine; every part of this machine from the plate at the bottom of the unit to the steam handle is built for rugged usage.
Rowenta (Looks = 10; Engineering = 5; Handling = 7; Crafsmanship = 4).
It looks like a UFO but performs like a Pinto with much less steaming power; it is built as a toddler's toy having most parts made with inexpensive plastic including the watertank base and valve: pull the machine a single foot OR tilt it a mere 1 inch and you will experience a slow-building cascade.
Buy the Rowenta 8100 as a decorative piece to make your closet look good.
Buy the Jiffy 2000 as a garment steamer to make your clothes look good.

(More customer reviews)This is a light cleaner which picks up general dirt. The only downside is this models brush does not spin, it simply sits on the ground and drags as you pull the unit. You need to scrub any real stains manually to get them clean. The Bissell Powerbrush 2080 spins and for $20 more does a much better job and it is still light! Happy Cleaning.

If you don't know, pugs shed every day of their lives!
I've had one for about 3 weeks now and here are my impressions
Super easy to put together, all you need is a screwdriver for 2 screws
It's also a breeze to use and it did a great job on my carpets (don't forget to vacuum first though)
Better than the rug dr I'd rent (those things are filthy!)
So for 2 bedrooms, living, dining, and sofa it took about 2 gallons which means that I had to empty the dirty water twice and refill the clean water twice
I also used about 32oz of soap which is about [$$] if you buy the name brand
Cleaning is also easy, just poor the dirty water in the toilet and rinse it out with water and boom you are set
Like other people have said there is no pour spout so be careful when pouring out the dirty water (you don't want to make a mess)
There are a couple other things to clean up, like the front part that sucks up all the water from the carpet, and some other fitters and the scrub brushes and that whole area
I usually wait till the next day when the unit is dry and just wipe the bottom down and pick of any bunches of lint or dog hair, and clean the front nozzle only when necessary
Some word about the attachments
First the accessory tray on the back is a bit cumbersome, bulky, doesn't hold the hose very well, and I've found gets in the way of storing the power cord
So, I didn't attach mine and just have it hanging on a coat hanger in the closet
Secondly, the way the hoses attaches to the front of the unit for the sucking and the other to the side for the soap is also not so great
It's not like my vacuum cleaner where there is a tight fit
For the sucking hose you kind of put it in the whole and turn it, but there's nothing to stop it from turning it the other way :(
For the soap hose you just push it in, it doesn't seem very secure because it can easily be pulled out
That being said I had not experienced problems with either falling out though
Next the spin scrub hand tool, it sucks!
I tried to use it for some corners and my sofa and it did not do a good job
I think it's because the spinning brushes powered by the air flow and not a separate motor like the main unit
Don't use it at all, but that's just me
The other stair/upholstery tool is much better
I was able to give my sofa cushions a good clearing
Lastly be careful when done with the attachments because the hose will have some left over dirty water and soap (this is probably the messiest part of the whole thing)
Sorry I don't use the bare floor attachment to comment
Overall, I love this thing to clean my carpets and the sofa
Cleaning is easy, remember it is NOT nonexistent, you DO have things to clean

I have natural stone so some uneven areas and I used the product with a grout brush not the Hoover Floor Mate machine which mises 90% of the grout, but does clean rest of floor very well. Grout is tricky. I recommend that you go to Home Depot/Lowes, get the grout brush, and sit on the floor and clean grout lines with this great product like a Marine. Great looking floors now. Highly recommned this product.

The previous tenants smashed walls and did as much damage as possible so you can imagine all the work we had to put into it. With all the dust and dirt the rug took a beating. Well I figured for what you pay to rent a rug doctor I would try this and boy am glad I did. You wouldn't believe the dirt this thing picked up even after we vacuumed a few times. The water just about turned to mud. Well to bring this to a close it was like I had a new rug, great product and very easy to use. P.S. You may think the cleaner liquid is espensive but let me tell you, it will last a long time since you use so little of it.

(More customer reviews)I bought this Dec '09 after about two weeks of research on lightweight vacs. I needed one that could handle: LOTS of dog hair (retriever/spitz mix!), four kids, the usual kitchen crumbs, area rugs, hardwood floors, tile and very low nap carpeting (whew!). We also have a woodstove and frequently have small leaves and wood debris from the logs being brought in the house. In the past, I have tried Bissel Turbo Sweep (kept breaking) and the Shark (new version with one side brush; battery died after one year and brush roll got so full of hair that it was a pain to try to keep it clean). Tired of batteries dying or the vac dying!
A big problem with cordless vacs is that the battery will inevitably die out on you within a year because of "overcharging" it. I really liked that this vac has a "smart charger" that only charges the vac what it needs and then reduces the charge to a trickle so that the battery does not get overcharged. The charger base is about the size of a dustpan and holds the vac in place well, so you'll need a place on the floor that you can park it. Handle does fold down if that makes a difference in your storage options.
First, the "cons": plastic body feels a little flimsy; it is awkward (but doable) on steps; whole body of vac swivels and not just the nozzle when you pivot it and takes a little getting used to; handle is NOT ergonomic and vac starts to feel hand "heavy" after a while (I can still use the vac with just my forefinger wrapped around the end of the handle and that helps). Also, if you are vacuuming a very dirty rug, the dirt cup will fill quickly and will lose suction.
Now the "pros": this vac REALLY picks stuff up! I am AMAZED at the amount of dog hair, crumbs, etc this thing will pull in! (Good-bye, doggie tumbleweeds!) Great for kitchen; scatter rugs get clean without being sucked up into the vac; great on tile, hardwood and low nap carpets. I also like the brushroll on/off feature so I can go from hardwood to carpet easily. Gets the edges clean too. The head of the vac is smaller than I thought, so if you can't get the edges clean going alongside it, I can get it clean coming straight at the edge. Now things like dog food and air soft pellets (two boys) will rattle around if you vac them up, so I usually end up emptying the dirt cup if that happens. Noise is moderate; it is, after all, a vacuum. Noise increases a bit if dirt cup gets full. Fully charged initially in under six hours, and again, place it back in its charger base and it will charge only what it needs (charging light goes out when vac is fully charged again). Have not used it enough to wear out the battery charge as I try to keep it's continual use under 10 minutes. It has a two year warranty on it, which I think is above average. After I vac my den carpet, and after about every other use on regular floors, I use my big vac to really clean the filter and filter screen as that is a key to getting good suction with these type of vacs. This thing picks up so much dog hair and dirt that I usally have to empty the dirt cup out at least once when I use it on my den rug, but not having to lug my 21- pound sears vac around is worth it. If the dirt cup was larger, it would be near perfect! I currently use Swiffer sweeper pole for my hardwoods and it looks like this vac will pay for itself within six months of not having to buy those refills all the time! So, I guess the only thing left to find out now is how long this will last!
PS: The dirt cup release button looks like you depress it downward, but actually you have to press upwards on it or you might break it! Also, on deeply patterned area rugs, it does not do a good job; but again for scatter rugs and everything else I mentioned, it does. Hope this helps!

(More customer reviews)I have only owned this pressure washer for 48 hrs. but I have had it working hard and it hasn't let me down! I'm a painting contractor and I have a bigger gas powered hydroblaster but I wanted something to use while my partner was blasting the heavier stuff like deck floors. I figured I could just clean rails and pickets. This machine does a fine job on them and more, it surprisingly tackles even the heavier work, but... and this is the part I love...it doesn't gouge the wood as easily as the bigger units. It is easy to operate, light weight, well designed. It comes with two wands, an adjustable fan spray and a turbo nozzle....the turbo is my favorite....aggressive cleaning without gouging. The fan spray is a twist adjustment...no stopping to change tips. I've owned Karcher's and they were ok but didn't last long. This is a better unit and if it keeps on running it will be worth every penny. If it dies I'll be back to amend this review.

I could only find it online and purchased one for both my Mother and my Aunt. The trick is using distilled water (to prevent buildup) and not overfilling. I don't ever fill it even to the maximum level. That's when you have spilling and spurting onto your clothes. If you expect it to work like an iron, it won't. And it works better on some materials than others. But if you're looking for a great way to freshen clothes and cut back on dry cleaning bills, this is it! I don't iron, so I use this for everything except my cotton work shirts, which I have dry cleaned.

I wanted to try one of these thinking I might buy one because my other 2 are getting some age on them and I have had to repair the oldest one. This unit does a very good job as long as you are cleaning out in the middle of a room (away from walls & ect.). The brush on it agitates back and forth so it will get both sides of the nap. It however does not get very close to edges and when you start cleaning it doesn't start putting out solution very close to the front so you have to have attatchments to get close to walls, stairways, large furniture that you may not want to move each time you clean ect. Also it is big which makes it more awkward for spot cleaning. I don't know if it really cleaned THAT much better than my pro heat (I bought it when they first came out a few years ago - it's not the newest model), but you don't have to stop and add water/clean the pickup tank nearly as often. Another drawback to this machine is that you have to mix the cleaning solution and the water. On the Bissels, you have seperate tanks and if you want to go all water to rinse a spot you just cleaned or go heavier on the cleaning solution for grimier areas, you can just turn a knob. Also in the commericals they would have you believe that the carpets will dry faster. I'm not sure if that is true.
Don't get me wrong, it is a very good cleaner, and it is built like a tank, I'm not sure it is worth almost $1000 ($800 more than the newer Bissel we have which also heats the water, or keeps it good and hot anyway).
We have 3 dogs and 1 clutsy teenage boy still at home, and they keep me busy cleaning carpets. If it really did THAT much better of a job than what I have, I would buy one. Or maybe if the price was a little more in line, at least $300 cheaper. I hope this helps.

(More customer reviews)The only thing this is good for is getting in the cracks on your sinks and behind the knobs on your oven. That's all. For it to really sanitize like it says it does you'd have to hold it on one spot for a long period of time.
Also, it may work OK of everyday cleaning but for deep cleaning, I'd prefer chemicals to this. I was hoping it would clean in-between the tiles in my bathrooms and kitchen but it didn't do anything.
Stick with whatever you have, it has to be as good or better than this product.

Shark Navigator Upright Bagless Vacuum Cleaner, NV22L Review

(More customer reviews)I bought the Navigator yesterday from Bed, Bath and Beyond. I really am impressed with the performance and results. I have been putting in a lot of research into finding a vacuum that met my families needs.
I own a Eureeka "The Boss" and have had it for over three years. It just doesn't pick up deep, ground in dirt. Plus it really is a pain to go to the store and pick-up bags and make sure your getting the correct one's. That was my case against getting an Oreck.
Well I brought the navigator home and I have been converted. I like many others vegged out on the infomercial. They make the vacuum sound like it's going to save the world from dust and dirt. They also focus on how they were able to copy the features of the Dyson for less money. I felt if they had to copy a vacuum you might as well get the original.
Well after having spent the last week vacuuming my carpet with my old Eureeka twice, then using a Hoover steam vac carpet cleaner, which actually pulled up junk my Eureeka didn't and it's not even a real vacuum. After the carpet had dried I went over my carpet again with my Eureeka again to make sure the carpets were clean enough for my 3 year old.
So now last night I get the navigator home and put it together ( which was extremely easy) and I carefully review the directions. I had never owned a bagless so I wanted to make sure I wasn't going to do anything that harmed the lifetime filters. Not much to it actually. Just wash the two sponge (forgot the official names) filters every three months, they give you spares while the originals are drying, and replace the thin sponge filter every twelve months. Easy enough.
Now for the vacuuming. I went over the same exact spots in our living room I had done with the steam vac and the Eureeka. I couldn't believe the amount of caked up dirt/dust clumps sucked into the Navigator dust bin. I was really disgusting. It was like that old insulation material that they used to use in attics. It was nasty. But that illustrated how powerfull this vacuum is. It really does get stuff the other vacuums don't. Dirt and dust you can't even see. I really mean this. I was blown away.
Now granted I had just spent about $160 on this vacuum so I wanted it to work. I am biased towards making it work. But the dust bin doesn't lie. That's another plus about bagless vacuums you get to actually see what's in your carpets. Not pretty but eye opening.
How this vacuum exceeded my expectations was the noise level. Now there is no vacuum that is whisper quiet. However compared to my Eureeka and the steam vac, and other vacuums I and my parents had owned in the past this Navigator was quieter then any other vacuum I have had experience with. I have never turned on a Dyson only played with manuevering it in the store. But I was able to vacuum after 10:00pm in a town home with neighbors on both sides.
Another great feature is how compact this vacuum is. Now it's not particullary light. You are not going to lift it with your pinky as you can with some vaccums(the Garry and Oreck). But I am able to haul it upstairs ( we have three levels so we are always going up and down stairs). Storing it in the closet is a breeze because it's so small. And as I said my wife and son and I live in a town house so there is limited space.
Now here is my only gripe. This is is not unique to the Navigator. Any bagless vacuum is an absolute terror when it comes to emptying what you've sucked up. Sure it's easy with the quick emptying dust bin's but unless you wrap a bag around the bin that dust is going to shoot back into the air. YOU MUST EMPTY ANY BAGLESS VACUUM OUTSIDE. That is just the only way you can insure not to contaminate the air inside your house with the same stuff your just sucked up. This is where bagged vacuums with sealing solutions like the Oreck, some hoovers, and the Garry have the advantage. But again you have to pay for bags the entire life of the vacuum and bag vacuums lose suction the more that you vacuum. Remember dirt and dust just doesn't automatically find the bottom of the bag. It takes the path of least resistance with most of the time is sticking to the top of the bag or near the opening which will clog the whole quickly which will impede the suction power. That is one of the reasons why I am able to pick up things with my navigator that I can't pick up with my Eureeka. If they could ever create a clear bag, no lose of suction vacuum I will be the first in line.
So to sum this up, I don't work for Shark and I don't get a bonus for referring this vacuum. I just love it's performance compared to my previous vacuums. I went with this over the Dyson because I just don't believe that I should have to spend over $300 - $500 on a vacuum. If this vacuum holds up over time then I will have save a considerable amount of money upfront and over time. It's just a winner all around. It has a 5 year warranty and above all that at Bed, Bath and Beyond there return policy is unlimited. As long as you have the reciept and original packaging you can bring a product back 3 months from now, 6 months from now, or 6 years from now. Plus I used those 20% coupons I always get in the mail from them and chopped off $40.
I really love this vacuum and so far recommend it. If you have any additional questions about it please feel free to email me at [...]. I know that if you spend as much time as I did researching vacuums you will want to know exactly what you are getting. I didn't even have time to tell you about the included tools. Of course I haven't used them yet since I just got the vacuum yesterday.

(More customer reviews)I have been using the Steam Buggy for a couple months, and have found that it is excellent for certain situations, though not perfect in all ways. I'm not an obsessive housecleaner by any means but I used the Steam Buggy for apartment move-out cleaning, and it was a godsend--and it actually makes cleaning kind of fun (honest!).

Pros: Things get super clean without chemicals...Easy to carry...Easy to use...Great for cleaning icky difficult areas like around sink fixtures, toilet hinges, shower door tracks, gunky trash cans, etc...Great for cleaning linoleum & tile floors (I have not tried it on carpet yet) as long as the dirt is not terribly embedded in a textured surface (normal spills left to dry for days will come right off a smooth surface)... Great for cleaning the inside of your refrigerator...It will clean exterior windows/sliding glass doors that are really dirty, quickly with very little effort...Any crevice areas that are normally hard to clean, including caulked areas (but be careful not to melt the caulk by holding the steam on one spot too long)...Outdoor resin furniture...I cleaned a box fan that had 12 years of crusted-on dirt (it took a while, though.) One reviewer here said that the steam isn't hot enough to actually disinfect, but it seems that steam is by definition hotter than boiling water so it must have *some* disinfecting power. The Steam Buggy would be perfect for cleaning goop off of baby high-chair trays, rattles, diaper pails, etc...It's also supposed to kill dustmites, which is a great benefit for allergy sufferers--you can just run the steam over your sofa, pillows, etc., then let them dry.

Cons: The cleaning is not instantaneous, but if you clean regularly it goes much faster than it does on super-filthy neglected areas...You have to wipe as you go (dirt is dissolved in the steam and you wipe off the damp area), although on some surfaces, you can just rinse with water instead of wiping (like a shower). The wiping is not a huge deal, but just be aware...You can't turn the steam off instantaneously, but it takes probably less than a minute...You have to let it cool for a couple minutes before changing attachments and 4-5 minutes before refilling (I don't find this a big deal)...It doesn't clean as well on certain things; for example, I still need to scrub the tub to really remove the film of dirt, and it doesn't do much for the inside of the toilet bowl. Also really textured linoleum I had to scrub to get the worst dirt out...To clean off hard water deposits, use distilled water in the tank--using your regular hard water that caused the deposits in the first place isn't nearly as effective.

Overall, I'm very happy with the Steam Buggy and have recommended it to a lot of people. A little baking soda or SoftScrub can take care of any scrubbing that it can't handle, but it takes care of a lot. It also allows you to get gross stuff very clean without having to really touch it, and eliminates dealing with buckets. It takes a little while longer to use than you might imagine from the Infomercial, but uses a lot less effort than conventional cleaning methods, without introducing chemicals into the environment or your & your family's skin & lungs.

(More customer reviews)After some research and contemplation, I bought this unit to clean and disinfect bathrooms and other household stuff. By in large, most of the observations from the reviews here have been consistent with what I've seen.
PROS:
1. Steam lasts a very long time. The manual says it can hold up to 48oz of water from which to generate 2 hrs of steam. This appears to be right if you're holding the nozzle open constantly. In reality, its longer because you have to steam-wipe-steam-wipe repeatedly, letting the machine rest during "wipes". I can get a good 3 hrs of cleaning done on one full tank of water. Also keeping you from holding open the nozzle is that you have to give it time to "recharge" since it appears that it does not generate steam as fast as you use it.
2. It works on what it claims: most "organic" build-ups like soap scum, toothpaste, dirt, etc. Cleans darkened grout nicely. Doesn't damage the finish on fixtures. I was expecting a little too much on the calcium deposits from hard water... steam just wasn't effective.
3. Nice supply of attachments (brushes) although its unclear what types of surfaces these brushes can be safely used on. In particular, I refer to the smaller round brushes. For example, my guess is that the brass brushes are not meant for highly polished finishes.
4. Good enough to clean hard to reach crevices like sliding door tracks (shower doors or patio doors), faucet details, etc.
5. Works well on car wheels. Brake dust is very fine and a pain to clean by hand. Not to mention that the chemicals are often not meant to touch the brake disc surface (I have yet to figure out how splashing water from a hose can be directed only to the wheel and not the brakes within).
6. Steam is the only option for cleaning chemically-prohibited surfaces (I never knew chemical cleaners were not recommended in microwaves!).
CONS:
1. Its loud! Not the machine, but the steam as it comes out of the nozzle. I strongly recommend hearing protection while you use it when indoors. My ears were ringing for about an hour after my first session.
2. Steaming takes time. If you're not opposed to using chemicals, often I find that bleach works as good, if not better, than steam. Compared to 5-10 mins steaming a polished chrome bath fixture to get it sparkling, it took 30 secs using your household bath cleaner with bleach.
3. Steam just doesn't work efficiently on mineral build-up. Chemicals are far more time-efficient. Hard water stains and deposits require lots of time and lots of elbow-grease (scrubbing). And even then, I'm not convinced it was cleaner than using chemicals (i.e., judging from the "gleam" off the surface).
4. The steam pressure is not very high. It isn't very low either, but definnitely not high enough to "blow" debris away more than an inch or two from where the steam jet hits. The best approach seems to loosen with steam then wash away with water or wipe away with sponge. Hence, I don't recommend using this for something like cleaning a car engine where neither wash nor wipe are feasible. (I guess you could steam long enough so that the condensed water from the steam was enough to wash away the gunk on its own, but that would take forever.)
5. It needs time to build up steam pressure while you work. The light is supposed to turn off when it is ready. While in use, the light will come on when the pressure reaches some threshold. Continued use beyond that point without letting it rest means you work with less pressure. When the tank is full of "condensed" water, the light comes on more frequently. As the water is depleted and more volume in the tank can accommodate vapor steam, the light comes on less often.
6. The width of the brushes simply do not permit reaching into 90 degree crevices or those really tight spaces. This is minor, however, but a flat or low-profile brush attachment would have been nice. A medium bristle toothbrush is a nice companion in my cleaning adventures...
Overall, pretty happy with this unit. To be efficient, I've found using a combined balance of chemicals and steam is best. It definitely reduces the amount of chemicals I need to use. For hard-to-reach or delicate surface areas, steam wins outright (with the mentioned toothbrush).

It is true that the cleaner takes 30 seconds to heat up but it only works in bursts. That means it will take me 2 hours to clean one wall of my shower. It is not a practical steam cleaner for cleaning the bathroom like I had hope. Now I only use it to clean doorknobs and fridge handels. I should have bought a spray bottle so I wouldn't have to wait 30 seconds to clean.

(More customer reviews)A couple of weeks ago, I hesitantly purchased (directly from Amazon) the Euro-Pro Shark Steam Pocket Mop ... but I am SO glad I did. I LOVE this steam mop. I have TILE and WOOD floors throughout my house and they have been nearly impossible to keep clean (as evidenced by my kids' no-so-white sock bottoms). Anyway, I had been researching all of the various steam mops trying to find that "perfect" mop that would work miracles. I thought I had decided on one, but then (while flipping channels) saw the infomercial for this mop. It appeared to be EXACTLY what I was looking for. As with most infomercials, I was VERY skeptical that the product would REALLY do what it claimed to do. Luckily, I took the leap of faith, and purchased one from Amazon.com. I could not be happier with this mop. It REALLY does STEAM (alot) and get all of the gross built up dirt and grime off the floors.
I HATE cleaning floors! I'm more of a carpet person, so for me to say I love this product is absolutely amazing. I had a Hoover FloorMate (which I purchased 7 years ago), but it was ALOT of effort to clean up AFTER ... and it only had the brush scrubbers (so it didn't really WIPE the floors clean) AND it required the special Hoover cleaner (which I ruined mine by using Pine Sol ... which it specifically says not to use). Then I moved to the cheaper (although, not really after you buy all of the disposable pads and cleaner) Swiffer Wet Jet. It was ok for the quick clean-ups, IF my floor was already pretty much clean to begin with. But the Swiffer Wet Jet never CLEANED my floors. It was EXTREMELY frustrating to spend time and money cleaning and then STILL see the dirty sock bottoms (which meant the floors weren't really clean).
PLEASE NOTE: There are TWO (2) versions of the NEWER MODEL steam mop ... the PURPLE version has 2 heads (rectangle and triangle) with 5 PADS (2 rectangle, 2 triangle, 1 purple duster) and the SILVER/metallic version has 3 heads (XL rectangle, rectangle and triange) and 4 PADS (1 XL rectangle, 1 rectangle, 1 triangle, 1 purple duster). Both have the carpet glider. The XL kit, as well as extra PADS can all be purchased separately. I bought mine at Newegg.
The things I like about the Euro Pro Shark Steam Pocket Mop are ...
1. It has a LONG 30ft. cord so you are not constantly plugging and unplugging,
2. It has sturdy/thick microfiber machine washable/reusable TWO-SIDED pads (all of the stains don't come out, but they have held up VERY well to repeated washings),
3. It has a LARGE water tank, so you are not constantly re-filling the tank,
4. It has a SWIVEL head (3 different HEAD sizes/shapes) that FLIPS for two-sided cleaning,
5. It really STEAMS while cleaning and gets off the built on dirt,
6. It cleans WITHOUT any chemicals ... only tap water (I prefer using hot water),
7. It HEATS up quickly (under a minute ... although I usually let it heat for 5 minutes).
Things you should know ...
1. As with mopping, you need to vacuum or sweep BEFORE steam mopping (do this WHILE the mop is heating up).
2. Filling with hot water worked best for me.
3. PUMP/prime the mop about 10 times before you start mopping (this gets the STEAM really going).
4. Make sure you have AT LEAST 2 pads (4-sides of cleaning), especially if your floors are dirty.
5. Do NOT keep using the same pad side once it is dirty (so, check the bottom as you go) or your floors will not be cleaned and look streaky when they dry.
6. I don't *think* this mop actually gets hot enough to really sanitize (I'm not sure if any of them do), but I spray/squirt some vinegar on the floor as I go and mop over that and it seems to work.
7. The steam mop is made of hard plastic, so I'm not sure how well the handle itself is going to last over time with repeated pumpings, etc. I've noticed several reviewers commenting on a broken handle. I would say there is alot of truth in that ... since the manufacturer sells JUST the HANDLE for ~$30 as a "replacement part" on its website ... and I personally think that is an odd "replacement" part (so they must have ALOT of handles breaking). Still, I have not found anything else that does the job like this mop.
Overall, I am VERY HAPPY with this mop! Actually, don't mind (as much) cleaning the floors now ... since they do truly get clean!
UPDATE April 2011: My mop is still working fine with no issues (thank goodness). The pads are heavily stained (even Clorox won't get the stains out) and have started to wear through and need to be replaced. My mom also purchased one a few months after I did and her handle broke within a month of very LIGHT use. The manufacturer was useless in helping her and said that she could buy the replacement handle (no thank you) or PAY to have it shipped back to them to inspect and fix or replace (their option). Anyway, she just returned it where she purchased it and got all of her money back. I would say that this mop does appear to have QUALITY CONTROL ISSUES. If you get a good one, consider yourself LUCKY. If you get a bad one (which the chances are greater than 50/50), then hopefully you purchased from a store with an EXCELLENT and longer-lasting RETURN POLICY as the manufacturer will NOT help you. It also appears that some of these quality control issues could be dangerous (beyond a broken handle). I am still using mine and happy with the results, but am now a little more cautious.

(More customer reviews)Okay, no one has reviewed the Hamilton Beach Garment Steamer yet so here goes. I just got and tried it out. I love it so far, don't know if it lasts or not. I read a lot of review before taking a leap and trying a product with no reviews. I noticed some things, some complaints about other products seemed to be people who just preferred the look they get from their irons. Some seemed to be caused by build up and not cleaning them regularly. Some were actual problems and design or parts defects. The creaser this one comes with does not crease like an iron. I just ended up putting in creases by laying the garment flat on top of the washer and "ironing" with it. Also, I did a lot ruffly and flowy rayon stuff so I steamed from underneath so I wouldn't crease up the ruffles. This steamer heats up quick, the steam is hot but not heavy. Your cloths won't be sopping wet when you are done. I bought rayon stuff cheap and needed a steamer for it. I have no iron because there just is no room here to have an ironing board sitting out. If you love creases and starchy pleats, stick with ironing that stuff. If you have a closet full of funky fabrics that are a nightmare to iron, get a steamer and wear it again! Or if you are short on space for ironing. I am faster with a steamer and don't like crispy clothes so it works for me. This seems as hot and as effective as the commercial one I had used before. Seriously a $15 ironing board and a cheap $9 iron and your at $24, this steamer is affordable. You don't need any tools to get it together either! If it dies sudden and horrible death, I'll write about it too! Until then, no news is good news.

(More customer reviews)What a job this does cleaning my floors! I use it for ceramic tile, hardwood, and for vinyl. The white vinyl floor in my kitchen really allows this product to show what it can do.
I used to do this floor only by hand, because it didn't look really clean using a mop or any other manual appliance. I had better luck once I started using the Swifter, but I was concerned about the expensive, strong-smelling chemical I was using, and about the disposable pads. Then I tried my sister's new Shark steam floor cleaner. It was fine, but did not deep clean. As I recall, it had only one steam jet! I noticed a lot of pull (surface resistance) when using it, so the job took a long time. And then came the Haan. What a wonder! It produces a lot of steam and really gets that old, cheap vinyl floor clean. It came with two wonderful pads, and I ordered more just to be sure I could do the floors in my whole house in one day. (Fat chance of my ever doing that!) The pads are cleaned well in my washing machine. I am so pleased I bought this brand because it really does the job! No more stinky, expensive chemical needed. Very smart purchase!

(More customer reviews)I was really excited about this because of the multi-function use. At the same time, I was skeptical. Our little dog likes to pee in small places on the carpet, so we needed good carpet cleaner that would deep clean these areas.
The carpet cleaner works very well. Both the large cleaner extension and the handheld spray and suction the water, which most others do not do. It was a decision between this and the Hoover Agility. The Agility does not seem to have a sprayer on the extension hose.
When it comes to the vacuum, it's not that great. The suction is only good enough for area rugs. The carpet extension has a air powered brush that stops working on normal carpet and it only cleans the top surface debris.
So, if you want something for hardwood and deep carpet cleaning this is great. Just don't try to replace a regular vacuum cleaning with this.

(More customer reviews)I purchased the LadyBug XLT with Tancs in February 2006, and am very happy with the machine's performance, the ease of use, the cleaning results, etc. All the things they say about it are true- the house smells much cleaner than before, superior cleaning without toxic chemicals. Frankly it is also fun to use, so you clean things that you might not ordinarily- for example, the heat resistant fabric seal on the inside of your oven. Now, very clean. I am veering away from the attachments, suprisingly. I find that I use it like a trigger bottle of cleaner- steam and wipe with a paper towel. Of course, I did love using the brass brush on the oven. The machine is very well made- the instructional DVD is helpful and easy to understand. It is like having a down-to-earth knowledgable instructor teach you how to use the machine.
Downsides- can be drippy when not used with a towel- so the window tool for windows, mirrors, etc., is not the same experience you are used to with Windex, for example. I use it to clean my 8 ft glass dining table, and I don't think that it takes longer, but you have to manage the dripping. The machine does "beep" a lot. You MUST compare prices, shipping, return policies and included accessories when shopping online- there is a big difference. Use the Better Business Bureau online to help make your choice.
The real thrill comes when you realize THAT YOU HAVE STERILIZED YOUR BATHROOM, KITCHEN, FLOOR.

I've had the Ladybug for 4 years and couldn't be happier with this purchase. Extremely high quality, never a performance issue, incredibly easy to own and use. Put water in it and turn it on, year after year. We renovated our kitchen a few years ago, and my husband built a special cabinet for the Ladybug so its very easy to use in the kitchen. The hose is long enough to reac all the countertops and appliances without removing it from the cabinet. It's lightweit enough to pick up and take to the bathroom, etc.
I am a huge fan.

(More customer reviews)I purchased these for a Steamboy steam mop to replace the standard microfiber pads that come with it. These are much sturdier, holding up better than the original pads that tend to pull apart at the seams. I also think that the longer fibers clean better getting into grout and corners far better than the standard ones. My primary complaint is that both versions have a poor fastening system and tend to pull off the steam mop while using it. It would be nice if the manufacturer would design a better closure system that would hold onto the head of the mop. I would have given this a four star review if the design was better. Unfortunately, I have not found any other steam mop pads that fit better so there is not much choice.

The great reveiws report claims of great steam fast, just like the Good HouseKeeping seal. I figured that if I bought the unit from Amazon, I could always return it if I was unsatisfied. I like to steam my clothes. I have a Jiffy portable unit for travel and home. I wanted to get a full size unit for home use. This unit is great. It heats up fast (less than a minute). Be sure to hold the trigger and wait. It is not a passive steamer. A pump activates to provide a nice flow of steam. This unit has a water filter. It slides into the drain plug on the bottom of the unit. In the package you will receive information about accessories. I called the support company, Top Innovations and ordered a few extra supplies. I ordered two extra water filters (for $2.99 each) and also a A-465-K1 Accessory Kit. This kit has an entirely separate hose and nossle with various attachments. This will allow me to steam clean counters, stove, tile. I want it to clean the interior floors of my vehicles after the winter. I hope this information helps. (More customer reviews)I recently purchased this upright Bissell cleaner after relying on my Bissell spot cleaner for 8 years. The problem that I had with the spot cleaner is that to really get into those tough stains, my back would pay the price for it later. The early models of Bissell spot cleaners didn't have SpotBot technology, so that meant getting on your hands and knees in order to get those really tough stains out. I've got a 16 month old puppy, and needless to say, I have had my share of straining my back to clean up after the little tyke. I read the reviews on some of the Bissell lightweight uprights, and since this model has a rotating brush, I decided to give it a try. I was conflicted between the SpotBot units and this one, but I decided to go for this upright because it can cover more carpet area at one go since it is an upright. There is absolutely no buyer's remorse here - the cleaner not only is very lightweight so as to not strain my back, it is easy to use and very powerful for such a light machine. The rotating brush is a huge help because it gets into those tough pet stains, and my carpet now looks like I don't even own a pet. Getting the unit ready for storage is easy too, because they have made the holding tank and spray nozzle very easy to remove and rinse out. Even if you don't have children or pets, this cleaner is great to just freshen up high traffic areas, and I can see myself using this to freshen up the house after dinner parties, getting rooms prepared for guests, etc. Also, the cleaning solutions that are available for purchase are concentrated - this means that you will pay for a reasonably sized bottle, but it takes very little cleansing solution to get the job done, so that a bottle of solution will last through many cleanings. And the biggest advantage is that you don't have to kill your back to get a stain out! :)

(More customer reviews)I bought this shampoo about a year ago, and was kind of unsure whether to get this or the Hoover Deep Cleansing Shampoo. I was not sure which would be better for my carpets, as they had a combination of pet problems and the normal problems. So, I got both.
One difference is the fragrance. The Deep Cleansing smells very good, whereas this one is exceptional. Hoover seems to pay special attention to this detail, as these products both smell great. In terms of cleaning, though, it is very difficult to tell the difference. I know this is supposed to be good on pet stains, but it was not any better than the Deep Cleansing in my experience. If it was, it was very slight; I could not discern any difference and I did test them. Also, I could not see any difference on normal areas like stairs.
I wish I could say to use one for pet stains and the other for normal rooms, but the difference is minimal if at all. I just buy the this one because as pleasant as the Deep Cleansing scent is, this fragrance is out of this world it is so pleasant. Both detergents are very pleasant to work with as they have no residue problem (mentioned in more detail in the next paragraph), are not harsh on skin, do not brown the carpet, and of course leave a very pleasing scent. There is not much bad to be said about this product.
One thing that the shampoo says, is that it is OK to leave some residue on the carpet as it helps resist resoiling. I find this to be untrue, as detergent residue tends to attract dirt pretty aggressively and going over the carpet one time with just water after doing it with shampoo seems to leave the carpet cleaner for a long time. Professional carpet cleaners will all tell you to remove any detergent residue, except for encapsulating detergents (which this is not), and some will not even use shampoo for this exact reason. They use a pre-spray and then use hot water. Which brings up another appealing characteristic - this detergent is quite easy to get out. I would also like to mention that with this or any other cleaning solution, or just water, the temperature of the water is very important. The hotter, the better. This can often make quite a difference in the cleaning ability of the solution, so whenever possible use very hot water.

EUREKA S3681D Sanitaire Mighty Mite Canister Vacuum Review

The upright has a belt which drives the roller brush, but this canister vacuum does NOT have a roller brush or a belt so I'm confused by a previous reviewers comments. The wide floor attachment is adjustable and glides nicely over my laminate floors. I wouldn't dream of using it on the fringed area of any rugs because the suction is extremely powerful - even when you open the tab to lower the suction. It's extremely lightweight, the attachments are well made, the wand extends a long way, the hose seems a bit flimsy, but that's my only complaint. Bags are a breeze to change and reasonbly priced. Haven't changed the filter yet, so I can't coment on that point, but otherwise, as someone with 2 Saint Bernards who love furring up my car, I couldn't be more pleased.

It was under warranty so I took it to a sweeper store in my area and they ordered another one at no cost. This mop is now not hearing up. (More customer reviews)I had such great expectations for this unit after reading the description. And it would be great if the unit I received lived up to the claims made for this product. But it was not to be.
First of all- It states that once the unit heats up "a steam-on-demand trigger with a continuous-steam locking switch.."- therein lies the problem with at least what I received.
First-it's far from a "continuous-stream of steam that is produced- it sputters,and then may have a burst of steam, then sputters again. I tested the temp of the steam during several bursts of steam- it varies- anywhere from 90 degrees to 140 degrees. Anything over 110 degrees-if remains constant while steaming- is good for killing most germs. Being that this was inconsistent- hard to believe the product description-
"Using pure and natural penetrating steam, the unit removes stubborn stains, dirt, and grime from sinks and tubs; sanitizes floors; reduces smoke and other odors from drapes and upholsteries; reduces allergens such as dust mites and pet dander; and saves money on cleaning supplies--no more harsh cleaners or protective rubber gloves needed." HA! Not the unit I received.
The other problem noted quick fast-is that "on-demand" trigger- it sticks- making it very tricky to shut off, considering if your one hand is being used to wipe or scrub down the area you are cleaning, you have to drop that and fumble around with this trigger to get it finally to go off. Poor design.
Of the few areas that I attempted to clean-and none that really impressed me- and this is just a guess is that the problem lies with an inconsistent temp for the steam- as you really have to do a lot of scrubbing on your own to lift even the easiest of grime areas from the tub
.
This is not a unit that I would say would make me throw out my current, unfortunately, chemical cleaners, of which I would be so happy to do -some day.
Needless to say- this product is in the process of being returned.

(More customer reviews)I got sick of ironing so I decided to buy this today at Bed, Bath & Beyond. At Bed, Bath & Beyond, you can use the 20% off coupon.

I looked online and compared products and this one seems to be the best buy for under $50. This one has 1200 watts compared to others which have 600 & 800 watts. My decision came down to this one and the Rowenta steam brush (800 watts & only 1-2/3 ounce water capacity). I decided on this one because I did not want to have to constantly refill the water tank.
It's the GS6 model for about $40. It does hold a lot of water and does produce about half an hour of steam.
I have been using this for almost 6 months and have to say that it is amazing. I use it to steam everything. It works faster on the softer fabrics (t-shirts, polos etc.) but it does work on the stiffer fabrics as well such as jeans and button-down dress shirts. I also use it to steam curtains and furniture. To learn how to steam, I just watched a few videos on youtube about steaming clothes.
You have to be careful not to burn yourself when steaming. You MUST always steam in an upwards direction because if you do it in the downward direction the steam will burn you. Also, one negative of this item is that the long steam pipe gets hot so you must avoid touching that also. I keep a half gallon bottle of water on the floor in my closet in case the steamer needs to be refilled.
The more you use the steamer, the easier it will be to use.

(More customer reviews)After years of searching for a floor cleaner that is easy to use and not messy I found the Haans. I got the Deluxe Total Home Cleaning System and I could not be happier. It easy to use, lightweight and does not soak the floor with excess steam like my old steam cleaner. Just a tip-At first I was reluctant about the floor cleaner because when you first use the steam cleaner on tile all the residue from previous floor soaps come up creating a white film. I did not know what to make of that-talk about getting everything out of the tile. It really did. I cleaned the floor with vinegar and warm water to get all the soap off the floor. Thank goodness that only needed to be done once. It was worth it. Since then my floor is amazing. I can walk in my house with socks and they do not get grungy. I also use the floor steamer on my hardwood floors. For years my cherry floors always showed every smudge and foot print. I began over the years to hate my floors. What I found out was it was not my floors, it was the cleaners. Just like the tile the first time you clean the wood it may look dull. What I found is that as I continued to clean the floor with the Haan Steam floor cleaner my floors no longer show all the smudges and foot prints. The little cleaning system is great also. I use it to clean everything from the bathroom, base boards, grit and build up in the corners, stainless steel, windows to the tracks on my sliding glass doors. It is also awesome on flat stove tops. I love it. Not only is it a great product but I have saved so much money not buying cleaners (floor cleaner, wood cleaner, shower cleaner etc... It is a savings of about $28-35 a month. I never thought going green would be easy.

(More customer reviews)In the $25 range of 'tea kettle' type of steam cleaners, this is the second one I've purchased. My first purchase was for a "ScrubKing" brand on a deal site.
I LOVED!! it, and got it for an amazing deal price.
It did work well, but eventually wore out from the build up of calcium/minerals that all steamers have to deal with. I was disappointed, but pleased with my first purchase ... since it actually saved me a fortune on store bought bottled cleaners ... AND .... IT MOTIVATED ME TO ACTUALLY CLEAN.
When this "Citrus" one came on a deal site I grabbed it. I like it. Not quite as much as my original "scrubking" .. mostly because of the smaller tank size and thus shorter use time before refill.
However this "citrus" steamer does come with a tone of extra attachments, and works very well so far.
I use water filtered through a tap mounted filter to reduce the minerals that will inevitably build up and made this steamer go the way of my first one.
GIVEN THIS FOREGOING SHORT LIFE KNOWLEDGE ... I would recommend spending as little as possible on a decent steamer knowing there will always be the issue of steam build up.
Tip: I realized and now warm the water to hot in my microwave so that I can refill the tank when it is empty, and not have to wait for the whole unit to completely cool down (i.e. I can add hot purified water and it will not spatter hitting the hot metal inside and will not potentially crack the unit as easily as trying to add cold water to a red hot empty unit.

After a [..] search, this company came up, and I found out their products were on sale at my local supermarket chain. I used this product in our Hoover steam vac, and the carpets came out just as clean (if not better) than Hoover's chemical laden cleaners, and actually smelling much nicer probably due to the chamomile, bergamot, and sage ingredients. It gives me peace of mind and satisfaction to know that my 'special needs' 4 year old can play in her room without the concern and worry that an unhealthy, toxic chemical cleaner brings about. I will be using this carpet shampoo on a regular basis now. Mega kudos to the 'Earth Friendly Products' company for offering this godsend of a carpet cleaner!

Cat urine - it not only takes out the surface stain and odor but neutralizes the odor so that the cat doesn't continue to go back to the spot. It works great on blood, urine, hairballs and vomit. It does not work on dirt...but then thats not what I needed it for. With multiple cats and a dog I buy this product by the case. It was recommended by my vet (though much more cost effective to buy on line!) Far superior to anything that you can buy on a pet store.

(More customer reviews)I am knocking off one star simply because there is a design flaw, but it is easily overcome.
When you close tight the fill cap, there is no where for air to enter the handle to allow the water to flow out.
If you remove the cap, it works great, tho I may simply drill a small air hole into the handle somewhere. I am afraid of just loosening it as it may fall into the hot grill during use.
It is better than spashing water with a cup because it releases a small amount of water at the exact moment of the brush's contact with the grill. You may get similar effect by dipping a SS brush into water each and every stroke, but that sounds like a lot of work as well.
I simply clean the grill while it is still hot just after cooking and even between batches if I see a need. It only take a few seconds and is much easier than turning it on later just to clean it or leaving all that gunk on there until you next want to grill something (and then waiting for it to re-heat again). The added bonus is that it cools down the grill that much faster so I can put the top on again that much sooner.
I have tried many different methods and before this, I had settled on one of those grill cleaning bricks (which, in turn, I had to clean every month or so with a SS scrubber and soapy hot water)
One reviewer of the pro suggested it melted onto the grill. Since SS does not melt, I suspect he was pushing so hard the grill bars went past the bristles and touched the base. There is no need to push that hard at all. Either that or he cleans it with the high flames still on and they reach the plastic. Turn down/off the flames just before using it.
I like that the removeable brush is held into place with a wingnut because other removable heads I have had, had problems with the brush slideing out of the handle while I was using it.
The pro gets better reviews and may be a better design, but this was an impulse buy for me at BBB with one of their 20% off coupons.

(More customer reviews)I recently bought the Hoover Windtunnel U6436-900 (TurboPower 7600) to replace my old Hoover Windtunnel U6445-920 (Mach 6.9) which was "giving up the ghost" after 6 years of flawless service. I could have had the old vacuum fixed for less than half of what the new one cost, but I decided to turn back the clock and invest in a new vacuum.
The new U6436 is almost exactly the same as my old Hoover except that it stores tools on the back of the vacuum and now has room up front for the power attachment. Hoover Windtunnel is definitely as loud as ever too. That's because it's actually doing something. It's amazing how much suction these vacuums have when the bag is empty. By the time the bag is full, I estimate that suction decreases by 25%...which is still more than adequate by the way.
I compared the U6436 side-by-side with the Eureka TheBoss 4870GZ that my inlaws have. The Hoover beats the Eureka pretty solidly in power and ease of push thanks to the self propel feature. It really glides along like it is on iceskates or something...almost effortless. Since the Hoover costs 33% more, this is to be expected. The Eureka is quieter, and that's about it.
The product manual that came with the U6436 indicates that it has a 2 year warranty. I've seen conflicting reports on this on various other sites, but it is definitely 2 years...
A famous consumer magazine ranks this vacuum near the top, and I agree. I have owned Hoover Windtunnel for quite awhile now, and they are reliable and do a great job. The bags are cheap too, usually around $7-$8 for 3 of them.
In short, I highly recommend this vacuum.

This unit is big and bulky and does NOT lend itself well to being a very useful "handheld", everyday tool, and I found it's accessories uncomfortable to use. Also, I felt it was slow getting "up to steam" and it felt "heavy" with a full load of water. Additionally, it seemed to not want to work properly when the unit wasn't particularily level. Steam cleaning, in principle, is a great idea, but it seems this product's adaptation and implementation of the principle is not good. Save your money or look elsewhere if you must have a handheld steam cleaning unit; this unit was too expensive and did not work well in this user's opinion.

(More customer reviews)I have a Bissell steam mop, which I like very much, and these are extra pads for it. The mop comes with 2 mop pads, but to get the most of the convenience of a steam mop, you need more pads. Depending upon the size of your home and the amount of traffic it gets - 6-8 pads is a good idea. Then, when the pad gets dirty, you just swap them out and keep mopping. When you're all done, throw all the pads in the wash and you're ready for next time.
These are nice in that they have an elastic drawstring-type fitting, instead of the velcro type on other steam mop pads. They are well made and of high-quality microfiber. The fabric has ridges that helps scrub the floor and also catches pet hair, a very nice feature in my opinion.

Additionally:
* Reasonably priced
* There is no auto-anything. (ie, no frills that'll just break later)
* It's heavy and solid - a quality piece of workmanship
* Actually made by Saeco (and just re-branded by Starbucks)
How does it compare to other machines I've used?
We've tried the cheap models (~$100) and they broke or wore out after a year or so. We've tried the really expensive models (~$1000) and with a bunch of internal moving parts and auto-grinder, auto-tamper, auto-cleaner, etc. etc. These often gum up, break, or insist some internal plastic piece is out of place (think "PC LOAD LETTER" for an espresso machine).

(More customer reviews)I got mine at the Home Depot, I have mostly had the Regine Vac carpet cleaner but they stopped making them, and I have to tell you it is the best carpet cleaner I have ever purchased, I have rented the grocery store ones, and I have borrowed a Hoover but this one really cleaned my carpets, I live in Arizona, we have a dust problem that you have to be here to understand, BUT this machine (with the extra floor nozzles) does the carpets and Hard flood with ease, and the only time I can remember seeing the true colour of the carpet was when I had them professionaly cleaned, yes I am happy with my purchase, I would make one choice different, I wish it did a better job on the hard floors, it seems to me that the hard floor peoblems are a lot different then carpet problems. I hope you enjoy your purchase as much as I am enjoying mine.

Carpet Pro CPU 2T Commercial Vacuum Review

(More customer reviews)PROS: It is a reasonably priced (less than half the price of a Dyson!), reasonably quiet, has a reputation for durability, picks up cat hair (yea!), and has a nice REALLY long cord so you are not having to move your plug around every room.
CONS: Haven't found any yet (that bother me)... I guess there are two things I have read: 1. some people will dislike is that it's a big yellow monster, so it doesn't have the style cachet of a Dyson or even Hoover. But it's a vacuum cleaner, so I quickly got over that. 2. There are folks who complain it does not work on hardwood floors, which mystifies me - I don't run a vacuum on hardwood - I use a Swiffer, stick broom, or good old fashioned broom. If you have mostly hardwood or vinyl floors, this might not be for you (see the negative reviews). Honestly, I would NEVER run a heavy vacuum cleaner on a beautiful hardwood floor. Maybe that is just me.
That said, I stressed over our vacuum cleaner purchase more than I should have. I read the Amazon reviews, Consumer Reports, Consumer Search, and any other site I could find.
At the end of the day I came down to this vacuum and the Hoover U8173 Savvy TurboPower... Amazon's reviews of the Hoover U8173 Savvy TurboPower vacuum were limited in number but all positive; however, there was a mixed story out on the web on other sites/reviews about it. There were a few others that I absolutely ruled out after finding killer issues:
Dyson: destroys berber carpets AND costs $500
Hoover Tempo: only $70 or so, but seems to have some durability issues and no on-board tools.
Eureka: Not well built based on reviews and personal experience
This Carpet Pro is amazing. The night it came, I vacuumed and it picked up every piece of dirt and lots I couldn't see. It was also quiet enough that it did not wake my sleeping kids. I was running it over a previously vacuumed area, so that gave me further proof of how effective it was.
Three other observations:
1) I ordered this exact model - I got the CPU-2T model with on-board accessory tools.. I couldn't find that model on Amazon at the time I purchased it so I ordered it elsewhere... Glad we can order it from Amazon now. And I paid the same price WITH tools as most other stores had the CPU-2 (the model without tools) because of a 10% off coupon... The tools work well - intuitive to use and the hose is sufficiently long for me. And, they all have on-board storage. Our previous Eureka drove us crazy because all the tools did not fit on-board (ridiculous!)
2) This vacuum is not well known... It took a lot of hunting to learn about it, though two reviews I read were from Vacuum repairmen, who said it was the most durable, trouble-free vacuum they see. I knew it was a bit of a risk to buy a relatively lesser known vacuum. But it is commercial grade and made by the Tacony Corporation, who also makes Riccar and Simplicity vacuums. Two different vacuum stores recommended Riccar to me, so I felt better about this choice as a result.
3) We have a cleaning person come for occasional "deep cleaning" of our house - she loved the vacuum. Since she is someone who has lots of experience with different choices, I thought this was a good indicator that the Carpet Pro is a keeper!

UPDATE July 09: We have had this vacuum now for about 9 months, and still love it. It picks up dirt and dust as well as it did when it was new, and behaves like it is indestructible. The only thing I don't love are the bag changes - not the neatest, but well worth the effort!

Update Dec 09: Still going strong - no issues, and cleans as well as the day we got it! One additional comment - it is great for pet hair - the onboard tools do a nice job of snapping pet hair up, and what it doesn't get I use a lint roller on.

Update Feb 11: Still going strong, and still love it. It cleans as well as it did on day one, as long as you change the bag in a timely manner. I have NEVER had a vacuum last this long without some drama. There is hair EVERYWHERE in our house (my wife, mom, and daughter have very long hair, 2 cats, etc.). With our old Hoover and Eureka, I spent every other vacuuming session unwinding hair from some roller somewhere. Not once yet with this vacuum. And as I said before, our cleaning person still loves it. Going on three years, and I'd buy another if it broke tomorrow in a heartbeat.

I had to re clean my wood floors to get the water marks out. Have not had any problems as far as it not working like many other people have, but was not impressed with the cleaning on my wood floors. If you have tile floors it works well.

(More customer reviews)I have 3 large dogs that drool any water left in their mouths after a drink, and a large textured ceramic floor that collects dirt in the grooves of the texture. I bought a Hoover Floor-mate in hopes of eliminating the mop and bucket, and because I felt that after a while I was pushing around dirty water. The Floor-mate did pick up a lot of dirt, but it is too large to get under cabinets and the brushes are too soft and too high to get into the crevices of the texture in the ceramic.
I decided to try the Flip-It because it is supposed to vacuum and wash the floor. First of all, you really have to vacuum first and clean the receptacle before washing. Otherwise, you will end up with a yucky mess to clean from the receptable and filter. I didn't find that the vacuum blew the hair as one other buy had reported, but I agree that it doesn't vacuum very well. It picked up some hair and small crumbs, but didn't get all of it. This was obvious when I washed the floor. More hair was picked up in the washing process.
With the rubber brush and a little pressure, this cleaner did get much more of the dirt out of the floor texture. I still had to scrub some with the brush on the unit, but I would have to do the same with a sponge mop. At least with this cleaner, the dirty water is vacuumed up and clean solution is dispensed for the next section. Even with my uneven floor, the unit did pick up the water, and the floor dried quickly.
The first floor bathroom, hall, kitchen, and foyer are pretty large, kitchen alone is about 12' x 18'. I had to refill the cleaner 3 times. I filled the unit with hot water from the tap. So maybe that helped. I don't think this is too bad because I had to refill the Floor-mate as many times and it didn't get the floor as clean.
I wouldn't use this unit as a vacuum again, but as a hard floor cleaner, I think it works well on floors that need more scrubbing than a soft brush.

I've used both of these mini shampooers and was not entirely satisfied with either, but I preferred the Bissell's Little Green over Hoover's Steamvac Jr. and here's why:
I first had the Little Green for about five years. It was a great little vac with only minor problems. The fill and empty containers are removable from the unit for convenient filling and emptying. There is a cord winder built onto the unit, the hose wraps conveniently around the unit and locks into place, and the shape and size are convenient for most applications including stairs and storage.
The problems I had with the Little Green:
- It would occasionally leak a bit. The water seemed to be coming from where the hose connects to the base. It was a small drip leak that was easily solved by emptying the clean water tank after each use. We used ours so frequently that I sometimes left clean water in the tank during storage to avoid wasting cleaning solution.
- My biggest problem with the Little Green was the inability to completely clean the dirty water tank. I had four cats when I first bought the Little Green and eventually had four kids. The Little Green made it through a number of illnesses with us above and beyond pet accidents. The dirty water tank became filthy and unsanitary and was not designed to be dismantled for thorough cleaning. Eventually, the smell became too great and I had to dispose of the tank. I decided it was time to try a new spot shampooer - one that had a cleanable tank.
That's when I decided to try the Hoover Steamvac Jr. Both the Little Green and the Hoover spray and suck reasonably well for a small machine. As far as actual cleaning quality, the two are comparable. However, I found the Hoover to be bulky and a pain and its only redeeming quality, in my opinion, was that I am able to thoroughly clean the dirty water tank.
The problems I had with the Hoover F5411 Steamvac Jr.:
- The tanks are the base of the unit and are not removable. In order to fill the clean water tank, you have to either maneuver the entire unit under the faucet and aim at a one inch hole in the portion of the unit that houses the motor, or you have to dismantle the machine and still maneuver the largest part of it under your faucet or use a bucket.
- The tanks are a single bucket-style unit separated by a divider. They are not individual parts. When you dump the dirty water, if you have the unit fully assembled, the clean water will slosh around. If you dismantle the machine to empty it, you will also be emptying the clean water tank.
- The top portion that houses the motor also has a filter that sits down in the dirty water tank, so if you dismantle the machine to fill or empty it, you are forced to place the motor housing with hose and cord in a tub or sink or get your floor dirty and wet.
- The machine is round. It doesn't fit well on stairs nor is it a convenient shape to store.
- There is no cord storage on this unit and no convenient way to store the cord or keep it out of your way when you are filling, emptying, or storing. You can wrap it around the base of the handle, but it usually does not stay in place if you empty the tank and tends to get in the way of using the handle to carry the machine.
- The Steamvac Jr. does have a spot to store the hose, but I find it an inconvenient and cumbersome position.
I'm currently saving my pennies to buy another Little Green. The little Hoover just makes me more angry than satisfied and I've taken to simply letting stains set in instead of hassle with the obnoxious machine.
I would recommend avoiding the Proheat Little Green. It seems the parts are not designed to work well with the heat and tend to break down. Hot tap water in the standard Little Green works well and this is coming from a germaphobe whose hands are raw from overwashing. If it's clean enough for me, it's probably more than clean enough for you. If you're looking for a spot shampooer, the Little Green is your best bet.

(More customer reviews)I have done a lot of research on different steam mops. I looked at prices and read hundreds of reviews and finally settled on the H2O Steam Mop.
When it came I tested it on every floor surface in my home including ceramic tile, wood floors, and vinyl flooring. What I found was that it works very well on most floors. Wood...eh...it was okay, but on my old-fashioned, textured vinyl it was AMAZING! I live in an old home and I haven't replaced the hallway vinyl flooring yet, which I hate because I have to get down on my hands and knees to scrub in the nooks and crannies (which really collect grime). This mop, when used properly and slowly, cleaned the floor so well it looks almost new! Ceramic tile, also great. It even cleaned the grout. My floors look better than they have in a looong time.
I have 2 big dogs, a daughter with lots of friends, and a small pool in the backyard. I own one of those "spray-and-mop" products and it is fine for quick cleaning (several times a day!) but it leaves a film on the vinyl floor, especially used over and over. This steam cleaner uses only water so there are no chemicals, no bucket to fill, and it thoroughly cleans without leaving any residue. With a busy life and no great love for constant cleaning, this steam cleaner makes my life soooo much easier.
I have read reviews that say this type of mop is junk and it doesn't work well, but as far as ease of use and level of cleaning ability I think it is well worth the money. It does leave some water on the floor, but no more than a regular mop. I would highly recommend this steam mop for anyone with kids, pets, and/or high traffic areas. I don't know how I survived this long without it!

#1- I bought a better, reusable, cleaning pad (from my local grocery store) that sticks to the wet jet. The pad is more absorbable, so it doesn't leave a layer of dried solution all over the floors.
#2- The cleaning bottle of solution that "can't be opened" actually can be! All you need is a pair of pliers and the top screws right off. Put your favorite/cheaper cleaning solution inside and the top screws right back on.

Our professional cleaners used a Panasonic commercial vacuum and we noticed the carpets were a lot cleaner after they had vacuumed compared to when we did. Whether a typical home owner will be happy with a commercial vacuum depends on what features you are comfortable with.
Pros: Strong suction and brush action really digs dirt out of carpets.
Nice balance of power, size, and weight. Compact and easy to use.
At 15 pounds (w/o cord), it maneuvers easily and is not too bad to carry.
50' commercial cord allows you to plug it in once to clean several rooms or a large area.
Unlike some uprights, the fan pulls air through the filter bag and through a HEPA filter before it reaches the motor.
The on board tools are convenient and work well.
The machine is designed for frequent use and easy low cost maintenance.
At around $210, it offers good value compared to other trendy vacuums.
Cons: The cord is orange and rather substantial. If you are not comfortable winding a 50' extension cord using your arm or hands, putting this away will be a hassle. The agitator always spins when the machine is on, even when upright and using the onboard tools (the brush is raised off the floor when upright to prevent carpet wear). There is no light.
I really like the simple reliability of the design and having noticeably cleaner carpets. The construction is largely plastic for reduced weight, but with metal in the right places. The overall aesthetic is a proven low cost design.
Update: Having used this for a while, I'm even more impressed by its convenience. The size and weight make it easy to carry around or put a hand under the base to use on stairs or upholstery. To clean stairs for example, start at the bottom, face the vacuum toward you, and rest the base one step below the one you are cleaning. Use the crevice tool to clean around the edge of each step. On the way down, turn the vacuum around, put one hand under the base and the other on the neck, use the brush to clean the surface of each step. This is much easier than balancing a canister or having to move to a different outlet 3/4 of the way up. The whole machine is a moderate weight canister with a built-in brush. The only real con is the noise on bare floors since you can't turn the brush off. Most vacuums I've used border on loud with the power brush on, and this one is similar. A little quieter on carpets, but louder on bare floors.

First, I need to point out the not-so-obvious fact that this is the stainless steel version of the "Water Distiller, Countertop, White Enamel" product sold by MegaHome/NutriTeam.
To make a long story short, I got this product last night and this morning I woke up to perfectly tasting distilled water.
For the long story...I read all the reviews for the white color version and decided this was worth a try. I placed my order by noon Friday and received the distiller just last night (Tuesday). I was anxious to test this distiller for myself because it might save me quite a bit of money if I could stop buying bottled water. The only negative reviews I'd read seemed to focus on the plastic or metallic flavor of the distilled water. The manufacturer suggests it can happen when new bottles smell like plastic. As soon as I opened the box, I searched for the plastic bottle to smell it. There was no distinct plastic smell that I could detect. One of the reviewers pointed out that your geographical location affects the mineral content in the water and thus can strongly affect its flavor. Living north of Philadelphia, water has a fairly neutral flavor and there's no high mineral content that I know about. Still, I filled the bottle with water filtered through a regular Brita filter I have connected to my faucet. Filling the bottle to the very top is exactly the amount of water required to fill the distiller container right to the fill line. Followed the simple instructions and started the distiller. It wasn't as noisy as I expected, however it's loud enough that you might not want to run it during a dinner party. (Makes good white noise if you need it.) It's supposed to take 4-6 hrs to distil one gallon of water. Warm water may shorten the process. Since I ran it overnight, with cold water, I have no idea of how long it took. That will be an experiment for the weekend. Come morning, the distiller was done and the water was surprisingly fresh and good tasting.
For those concerned about whether distilled water draws minerals from your body, therefore raising acidity levels, read about the benefits of adding pH Drops before drinking. Cheers!

I use this distiller almost daily and I'm still very happy with my purchase and very glad I got it. Water tastes perfect, whether I pre-filtered it or not. I was surprised another reviewer had problems with leaks, since I've none whatsoever. The unit makes a very useful white noise, which is better for reading than for conversation though it doesn't bother me (I usually run the unit at night). I have not noticed much difference in distilling time, whether I use hot or cold water. I do get a lot of mineral deposits left over. However, I can remove them easily with a sponge or with the solvent that was provided.

On the 4th use it started to trip the ground fault interrupters in the electrical outlets. On the 5th use the handle fell apart sending hot steam over my hands and exposing electrical wires.
Review of the warranty states to send the product back in the original packaging with the receipt and it may be replaced if they find it defective. What a joke. I would not want another dangerous device. I just want my money back.

We steamed a full week's wardrobe, and the clothing done with the travel steamer looked just as good as the others. The only drawback to the travel model is related to its small size - it needs to be refilled every 3-6 garments, and the smaller steam head means that it takes longer to steam an item. However, I actually found that the small steam head worked better on small areas like collars and cuffs, especially since it has squared corners. The corners mean that you do have to be a bit careful with delicate knits, though. Worth the price if you really need to look your best when you travel.

(More customer reviews)I ordered this part because I already had the Hoover SteamVac for our carpets and wanted to see how it did on the tile flooring in the kitchen. It took a couple minutes to get snapped on to the vacuum correctly, but is otherwise easy to use and clean afterwards. From what I could tell, it cleaned the floor probably as well as a regular mop, but it took about three times as long (once over with the solution, then a couple more times to suck up all the water, not to mention the maneuverability is a pain!) The SteamVac itself is great, but I wouldn't recommend the bare floor attachment, unless you have a lot of extra time to kill.

(More customer reviews)I just bought this today so I cant tell you how wonderful it still works after many uses but I can tell you that it worked absolutely wonderfully on my very yuckie, dirty, Cheerio crumb infested (toddler in the house) kitchen floor. I will never use a broom and dust pan again. Well, maybe the broom, but only to quickly sweep the stuff the Shark can't reach under the lower cupboards (we live in an old apt which may have something to do with that). Not a big deal. I just swept it into the middle of the floor and then sucked it all right up with the Shark. It picks up much more than the broom/dust pan method, even better than my Hoover on the "hard floor" setting! It made mopping the old fashioned not so "yuckie." Now Im starting to eye the steam mops. Here's to no more getting on my hands and knees to clean the floors!
I also tried it out on the carpet (more crumbs!) and it worked the same. Great! This product obviously wont replace your regular vacuum, but for quick, light clean ups, and for "pre-mopping" vacuuming it does the job very well.

(More customer reviews)My grandparents had a cabin in Canada, and their "humidifier" was a shovel full of snow in a big pot on the wood stove. Ah...those were the days. Fast forward to the present, in my home without a wood stove, to a complaining wife and stuffy newborn. What I thought was a seemingly easy task turned into a nightmare, thanks to the internet and Amazon reviews.
The type was easy. Cool mist is too moldy (unless they are kept clean, and let's be realistic, who actually cleans humidifiers?) and filters are pricey, ultrasonic has the added benefit of the "white powder" in the air and settling on everything, and the whole-home kind that are attached to the furnace ducts aren't really made for small heat pump HVAC like I have in my house. So, warm mist it was, and I started on my journey to find the perfect one.
And it was a journey. I found fancy ones with all sorts of features, and cheap ones that made steam. All had one thing in common, those that hated them and gave them one star, and those that loved them and gave them more stars.
Meanwhile, my wife borrowed her mother's humidifier, which happened to be a many year old version of this particular one. It's the same humidifier we've borrowed every year since my wife and I got married five years ago. After playing with the idea of a UV lighted, mineral pad soaking, multi-gallon capacity, built-in hygrometer monster, I decided to get two of these units instead--at a cheaper price. Why?
For one, my mother-in-law's unit still runs like a champ after all this use. We really only use it at night for sleeping. The trick is to fill it up and run it on high while getting ready for bed, and then turn it on low when going to sleep. The water lasts all night and it increases the humidity nicely.
For two, many of the features offered on more expensive models are all but useless. So many people complain about filling the things--is it really that hard to walk to the sink once a day? In order to kill airborne germs, a lot more is needed than the tiny UV light offered in other humidifiers. If the built-in hydrometer is out of whack, too bad! Mineral filtration pads? Unless a person is unlucky enough to live in a "liquid rock" area, a good wiping with paper towel soaked in vinegar once a week is all that's needed to clean the heating element.
Sometimes, less is more, and I believe this is definitely the case with humidifiers.

(More customer reviews)This is what the hoover steam vac recommends. I have not used another product with the machine. This works fairly well, but won't remove deep embedded stains. Cost is comparable to similar products.
What impresses me and makes me want to clean is that this product smells so good- citrus-y... I love it. Washes cleanly without residue and does not foam.
Incidentally, I actually use spray and wash for laundry to pretreat stains.

(More customer reviews)I have had my eye on the Ladybug steamer for months now, drooling over all it could do but it was far out of my price range. I own the Envirosteamer steam floor mop and love it, but I wanted something to get into tight spaces like around the toilet, in the tub, the oven, etc. With some Santa money I got more serious about purchasing a canister steamer in addition to my floor steamer and began some comparative testing and studying. Fortunately, I live in a neighborhood that is all "green built certified" which means, in order to have a green rating, all homes were built with no carpet and lots of people hate chemicals which means it's a neighborhood full of steam mops which makes comparing the models quite easy. That's a good thing because it just saved me over a thousand bucks because I wound up no longer wanting the Ladybug. Here's how they rate...you decide which is best for you:

Note: These temperatures are based upon using the small hose attachments. In every case that we used the long hose attachment included to turn these into a floor mop, the steam had to travel down the long hose so it cooled and wound up only being about 115 degrees by the time it reached the floor. Which results in very poor cleaning. Because of this, if you are wanting this mostly for floor steaming, I would suggest going with a steamer that shoots out hot steam directly onto the floor from its tank rather than through a long hose before reaching the floor as a canister mop does.

CLEANING:
For a controlled cleaning test, I mixed Dr. Pepper with sugar and spread it evenly across a 4' length of my stained concrete floor and kept the pets away until it dried completely in a gunky mess. I then tested each mop against it in lengthwise strips, moving them at the same pace after a full heat up, as well as testing each on its own strip of bathroom tile & grout. Here's who performed the best:
Tie: Ladybug and Vapamore. These, due to the really hot temps, loosened the gunk on impact and made it VERY easy to clean my floor. Their hot temps and heavier steam also cleaned tile the best but Vapamore actually did a BETTER job on uneven surfaces like tile with grout..but don't expect shiny white grout because it wasn't exactly returned to looking brand new either.
2nd place:Haan...but it wasn't nearly as good as the above two.
Last place: Reliable. Although the steam temp is hotter than the Haan, it doesn't shoot out as strong and only had 5 steam jets so this diminished its effectiveness Didn't come close to the V or L.
All were at temps to kill bacteria and sanitize without using chemicals such as counters and mattresses, unless you tried to turn it into a floor mop which I don't suggest because the steam was too cool to clean as well as a real floor steam mop made for that purpose..Other notes: The ladybug was the most awkward to carry. It just wasn't made for carrying up stairs, etc.Conclusion: Considering the Ladybug is over a thousand dollars more than any of the other mops, this was a real eye opener! I tested these with my friends and we all agreed, hands down, that the Vapamore was the best buy. And I love it! It cleaned the best BUT the Ladybug lasted much longer as far as cleaning time. However, Vapamore cleaned for 50 minutes prior to needing a refill which, for me, is all I need. That said, if you want to use this commercially and don't want to have to take time to refill, the Ladybug may be worth the steep price for you. Considering they have the same 3 year warranty though, I'd rather buy 4 Vapamores for the price of one Ladybug and have one in every room. I kid. The Reliable seemed to lack things that were just silly...like having a cord longer than my blow dryer and only having 5 steam jets.

(More customer reviews)I bought this originally from Costco...and after four shampoos, it stopped sucking up water. It did clean, but not perfect. Many of the stains that I tried to work on were still there after repeated cleaning and prepping beforehand. The attachments for sofa and carpeted stairs were a complete joke. They just left stains on my sofa, and didn't have enough suction power to clean anything on the stains. I found a good spray of Oxyclean and rags pulled up more dirt that this machine. Renting a rug doctor carpet cleaner still seams like a better way to go...bigger water tank and more powerful suction. I paid $200.00 plus tax and got four uses out of it. If the machine broke after let's say 24 uses, then maybe I wouldn't feel so ripped off. I know these machines aren't great to begin with, and not made to last (all parts are plastic), but throwing this into the landfills after barely any use is pretty terrible. Rug Doctor here I come!

I mopped the night before and then the next morning I used my new steam mop. I was amazed how much more grime I got up. Plus you can wash the pads. My swiffer had those throw away pads. Which I hated because I hate contributing to too much trash. No chemicals which is great for my allergies. Plus just knowing hot steam is hitting my floor makes me know more germs and grime have been knocked out. I really like it. My husband even thinks the floors feel different. I also think it makes cleaning more fun. Only complaint is the cord should be longer.

(More customer reviews)I only write this review as I see one other review here that is not so good. I don't think any carpet cleaning product works well on all stains. This product works great for oily stains, light dirt, and most importantly, cat puke. My darling kitty has a lot of furballs and frequently coughs them up, along with a bit of her dried food which leaves a bright yellowish orange stain on the carpet. With this stuff (and I don't even bother with the steam cleaner typically) it just erases all those awful cat stains everywhere, so my house once again feels like a nice, clean place to live. I highly recommend for people with cats like mine!!

(2) You have to refill it 2 or 3 times for each shirt. (3) The unit gets very hot and if you are not careful to only touch the handle, you will get burned. (4) It takes more power the more salt you put in it. It would dim my lights and it can easily blow a fuse.

(More customer reviews)Nothing is going to get your floor as clean as good ol' handwashing on your hands and knees. But who is willing to do that anymore? This machine is a reasonable tradeoff between convenience and efficiency.
It really will scrub sealed floors clean. Don't expect to save much time over traditional mopping, though. You must slooooowly push and pull it several times over a spot to really get it clean. Stubborn or ground in stains may require a second or third wash. And it's impossible to fully clean edges or corners.

A couple items are worth mentioning. First, the dry vac mode is extremely weak. I could not get it to suck up a simple peppercorn or corn flake! Pre-sweeping with a broom or other bare floor vac is a must.
Secondly, Hoover recommends only using their special floor cleaner with the machine, which I find annoying, expensive and hard to find. I emailed them about this, and they said I could also use vinegar and water, which is too mild in my opinion. I felt daring and have used other floor cleaners in the machine without any problem. However, I would avoid using pine, orange, bleach, or ammonia based cleaners -- as the instructions specifically mention not to use "solvent" based cleansers.
So overall, a solid product. Just be realistic in your expectations of what it can do.

I live with three dogs and two cats so this product gets plenty of use.
I am particularly happy with the way this product aids in keeping my house smelling clean and my floor looking tidy.

(More customer reviews)While nothing will ever really replace the Cinderella-style of hands and knees scrubbing, this mop certainly is better than pulling out the regular mop and bucket of luke warm brown water.
It is sturdy enough and easy to assemble. its easy to use and does a great job of cleaning without chemicals. Sticky juice spills in the kitchen come up quickly and easily and the sanitizing feature is great for the area just in front of the bathroom toilet where men can never seem to avoid. lol.
The cord was plenty long enough for the rooms in my house, since I dont live in a mansion with huge rooms. And I was able to clean my kithen ceramic tile in less time than it took my husband to go outside and smoke a leisurly cigarette. The floor dried much faster than with regular mopping but I could see spots of dampness here and there when I was done so I am not sure how safe i would feel using it on hardwood floors.
The cons: it only comes with 2 reusable pads. So after the kitchen and bathroom I had to stop and wait for the wash before I could do the hall bath and the downstairs bath. Plus I felt I could redo the kitchen a 2nd time since the pad was so filthy the first time around. So you really do need to buy more pads.
Also, it does NOT do grout. If you have a spill in the grout lines the best you can do is 'sanitize' the spot (holding the mop there for 8 seconds) to loosen the dirt and then manually wiping clean with a rag or paper towel.
Finally, while the swivel head is easy to manever, it really does not get into corners all that well. And much like regular mopping, you have to sweep well or vacuum first or else you will just be pushing around crumbs or hair which will collect along baseboards and corners.
Since this is a great novelty mop, and since I love that I dont have to buy cleaners, I would definetely recommend this mop for people who like to keep their floors clean, and are sick of the mop and bucket style of cleaning. My floors are cleaner and I look forward to using it again when those stupid pads go through the wash again. lol.

(More customer reviews)I have used this detergent for several months with my Hoover Steamvac and generally like it quite a bit. It is relatively poor at doing much with stains, particularly those that have been in the carpet for a long time (but then again, aren't they all poor at that?), but for traffic lanes where there is a lot of dirt and/or grease, if you take your time and go over it a few times, it is a very good product. I will say that sometimes you have to give it a little time too. I have broken down seemingly impossibly dark areas with this shampoo, although the first pass seemed to do very little, and quickly going over it seemed to only work slowly. So, if all else fails let the water/detergent sit on the area for a little while while you work on another area and then go over it again and see if that helps. It has for me in some instances
There are a couple of things that make me give it a four instead of three, which I would give it based on its cleaning ability. The first is the smell. It is very pleasant and I have had several positive comments on how the carpets smelled after using it. Outside of Hoover's Pet Formula Pet Detergent, this is best smelling detergent I have ever used, and I have worked with many. The other "plus" is that it is easy to remove from the carpet. After I use the detergent, I do at least one "rinse" application where I just use water to get up the residue of chemicals I left behind. With this detergent, it comes up very easily and does not require repeated applications, whereas with many others you must do the same areas many, many times to get all the residue from the carpet.
One last area I want to bring up is "browning". Some chemicals used on carpets have an unpleasant tendency to turn your carpet brown as the chemicals dry on the carpet. To give you an example, I did a carpet and it was quite clean, with few stains remaining. A few days later, I had monstrous brown stains in a few areas on the carpet. I had used several stain removers to help with the original spots, and these were apparently the cause. So, I went over it again with water to remove the browning, but once again they came back when it dried, seemingly with almost the same intensity. Intuitively, I disliked adding more residue by using the detergent, but I figured water was not working so I had nothing to lose(and as I mentioned, this detergent has no residue problem). I used this detergent and apparently it helped remove the other chemicals more effectively and lessened the browning problem I was having. Also, this chemical does not cause browning at all. It was some other chemical I used for the stains (I used too many to know which one, as the initial stains were quite stubborn).
The only reason I am not giving this a five is because I do not want to give the impression that this is some kind of super cleaner and give false expectations. It does work pretty well, and is a very agreeable shampoo to work with, both in odor and ease in which it comes out of the carpet. It also is not harsh on skin if you get some on you. Overall I like it very much and will continue to purchase it as I need it. I probably would even if it did not clean at all, it smells so good.

(More customer reviews)Okay..let me start by saying that I have 2 (SHEDDING) dogs who have a doggie door to the backyard and are in and out all day long tracking dirt/leaves inside constantly. Let me also say that I have all hardwood floors throughout, and have been called OCD on the cleanliness of my home. Before purchasing the Bissell Versus, I owned 1 standard (HEAVY) upright vac (Dirt Devil), 2 cordless vacs (one being a Shark), and 2 handheld vacs.
Always on a mission to find the perfect vacuum cleaner, I got sucked (pun intended) right into the infomercial on the Bissell Versus. After reading online reviews (some great, some bad), I decided what the heck..I'll give it a shot. Here is what I found after using it last night for the first time:
1) Hard to find in-stores, but finally found at a local Target on sale for $59. (Yay!)
2) Easy to put together. REALLY easy.
3) Worried about the reviews saying it was hard to maneuver, I found it quite easy (I'm puny)! I didn't find it to be too "top-heavy" at all. WAY lighter than my normal upright vac, and the "V" head makes vacuuming around tables/chairs/furniture so much easier.
4) Vacuumed all of my dog-hair-tumbleweeds without any problem at all, regardless of how big they were, including some larger leaves that had fallen from my houseplants, and one (LARGE) dead bug that appeared sometime while I was out buying this vacuum. I was also very happy with how much dust it picked up! I personally didn't have a problem with the expelled air blowing around hair/debris..the vac sucked it right up before it got too far away.
5) The many reviews complaining about how short the cord is, had me worried I'd spend half my time unplugging/replugging. Although it IS shorter than my normal upright vac, it wasn't AT ALL as bad as some said.
6) Reviews also had me worried about it not getting hair against the floor's baseboard due to the "V" shape - but I didn't have any problems at all. I thought I'd need to use the Crevice Tool/Hose to get against the walls, but thankfully found I didn't even need it (well, just once to get behind the fridge).
7) I LOVE the fact that it is bagless..and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the fact that it doesn't have a roller underneath to get hair/yarn/fuzz wrapped around! I hated trying to cut/unravel that nastiness from around my upright's roller. The Versus just has a big hole that everything gets sucked up! The most interaction I had with the underside, was to pull the fur off of the little "squeegee" thingy after I was done vacuuming my whole house..all of 2 seconds.
8) The only CON I could find, was that I tried to use it to vacuum the dog hair off of a couple floor mats, but it just wasn't doing the job. I'll still have to use my HEAVY one for that, or one of my handhelds.
So, needless to say..I highly recommend the Bissell Versus. :)

At the end of the three weeks it stopped sucking the water back up, I had been taking excellent care of it and had kept it clean. I brought it to the repair place and they fixed it but it never worked as well again. It just keeps breaking. It has to be turned on its side to get the shampoo to "wake up" and start coming out. It sometimes works but often times it does not. Its been back to the repair place repeatedly and now that the warranty expired its worthless. It actually would have been cheaper to have my carpets done professionally. I have a friend who brought a similar unit at costco and had the same trouble.

(More customer reviews)Bissell has proven itself the leader in carpet cleaning systems for years. So I ran out to rent a carpet cleaner which we needed immediately due to a monster spill. All the rentals were rented out! + It costs $$ to rent. + And who knows whats left over in those machines. So I made the decision to buy one to have in just such an emergency. Great decision.
Why buy an expensive Bissell for over $250 when this 1622 Powerlifter Powerbrush can do everything they can. It's got the brushes it's got the power. The only real difference between those models is that they heat up the water for you. Well can't you just pour hot water into the resevoir? Yes you can. And away we go.
I made this wise economic puchase some months ago. This machine has proven itself reliable strong and able time after time. The ultimate weapon for all sorts of messes.. . . . .. And yes it cleans alot better that the store rental units.
Oh and by the way we did try that little green machine cleaner. For-get-aboudit.

(More customer reviews)I am VERY disappointed with this product. It is not powerful enought to remove the wrinkles from clothing. The only way I found to get it to do a fairly decent job is to stretch the piece of clothing downward as it hangs, and rub the fabric with the brush on the steamer while steaming, going over and over the same spot. It's like trying to iron vertically, only with no support behind the article of clothing. It doesn't remove wrinkles nearly as well as an iron, especially if there are any unwanted creases, and it takes considerably longer than ironing, since you have to steam the same spot over and over again. I bought the steamer because it uses tap water, and distilled water is a hastle to find when travelling, but tap water eventually causes irons to leave mineral deposits on clothing. Instead of this product, I recommend a standard iron or travel iron. It's easier to travel with a travel iron and just use a spray bottle filled with tap water to mist the clothes if you don't have distilled water to fill the iron with. The Conair GS15 Hand Held Fabric Steamer is a waste of money that doesn't do its job.

After the 1 year warranty expired ( basically to the day) the handle broke. Called Euroflex customer service, ha - service not !, to bad i was told. So after i already invested $$$ on the darn steamer, i shelled out another $30 for a new handle. AND was promised how much better the NEW handle on EZ2 was, lie, lie, lie. 3 months after using new handle, new improved handle snaps, called customer NOT service again, will replace handle BUT no warranty, will not stand behind product and basically told me to buy a new one next time. Sure, i'll shell out another $120+, $$ for pads and customer service that does not stand behind their product ! Euroflex must thk US consumers are morons!

(Sanitizes) It worked great for us on our vast expanse of tile flooring. Distilled water is recommended and is a good idea, so hard water, water softeners, etc, don't ruin the machine and its efficiency. Only holds a cup or so of water, but that cup did our large guest bath, entry area, and long hall. The pumping action of the handle as you work keeps the steam coming. Unbelievably easy to use, and it even removed wax residues from our tile! (We tried to wax glazed tile.) Only comes with 2 pads, so order more! (Pads wash up just fine in the washer/dryer, so use them even without steam, if needed!)

(More customer reviews)I had the older version of this machine. I bought it about 6 years ago and after attempting to clean the rugs last month I realized it was no longer picking up the water. Opened it up and saw that the internal suction hose had split in half. That was it .. time to find another cleaner. I have had good luck with Hoovers but did a TON of research before settling on this machine. I have a dog and a toddler and both do a number on my rugs. Juice, food, crayons, spit up, urine and everything else under the sun has ended up on my carpet in the past 2 years. I did not take care of my previous Hoover so it wasn't the best in its later life. I just brought the new one home and oh my god, the water was black. I did not think anything could bring my carpets back but this did. They are so soft and clean. I love this machine because it has a rinse button if you want to make sure you have gotten all the soap out. I use really warm water and the machine directs hot air onto the carpet as you make your passes. The carpet dried super fast and just looks fantastic. I had to fill and empty the containers 4 times for my combination living / dining room but hey, I'm not complaining now that I see the results. I also like this machine because you do not mix the detergent in with the water. This is great because if you have detergent left over you just pour it back into the bottle. Based on my previous experience, here is what I learned and can pass on to future Hoover SteamVac owners:
1. Clean your machine after each use. That means taking apart the brushes and washing out the front nozzle. This is an investment and if you want it to continue working like it did the first day, you need to take care of it.
2. Do not leave left over or dirty water in the tank when you put it away. This will wear away at the joints and increases the chances the leaks.
3. Do not leave left over detergent in the tank .. see #2.
4. Read the directions when you put it together and make sure you read how to use this rather than just take it out and turn it on. I never read the first manual and didn't realize I should have been cleaning and using the spray button a totally different way.
This is a great machine and I hope it will last just as if not longer now that I know how to take care of and use it properly.
